If Seoul follows through with its plans to send South Korean specialists to Ukraine and provide weapons, it could really change the situation on the battlefield.
South Korea is a country that has been preparing for war for 50 years, has
a large modern army and a huge arsenal of the latest weapons.
This was stated by the executive director of the Center for Applied Political Research “Penta” Alexander Leonov in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA. He noted that the Russian dictator Putin did not take into account Seoul’s possible response to the escalation by inviting the DPRK to war.
“As they say, as of now, South Korea is identical to what is left in Russia, but more modern. They have their own military-industrial complex, which produces weapons, and, for example, the same Poland buys both “Crabs” (these are self-propelled howitzers) and South Korean tanks, they have their own anti-aircraft missile system. Therefore, if they decide to supply weapons to Ukraine, this will be very good for us, and this can really change the situation. In addition, information has now appeared that there are a number of retired military personnel in South Korea who are ready to go to Ukraine, and this can be very good if they go with the equipment and teach Ukrainians how to use it right here. Therefore, I think this is the moment that Putin did not calculate when he tried to start an escalation by inviting North Korea to war,” the expert said.
Alexander Leonov also explained how support from South Korea can strengthen our military at the front and what weapons can help us. According to him, these are tanks, howitzers, and first of all, shells, which South Korea has in huge stocks.
“They can provide tanks, they can provide self-propelled howitzers, they can strengthen our air defense. The main thing is that they can very quickly change the balance of shells, mines between Ukraine and Russia on the battlefield, because they have warehouses where, in fact, there are a lot of supplies. If our allies help them with logistics, then I think that the flow here can be quite large. Therefore, support from South Korea is the option when the situation on the battlefield can change very quickly,” the expert emphasized.
Let us recall that this week a South Korean delegation will arrive in Ukraine for a visit, where it will meet with intelligence and defense representatives to exchange data from the battlefield and discuss cooperation issues.
As reported by OBOZ.UA:
South Korean President Yun Seok-yul said his country “will not sit idle” and will take retaliatory steps to the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia. According to him, Seoul will take the necessary measures depending on the scale of military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow. In particular, it may reconsider its position on providing weapons to Ukraine.
Earlier, Newsweek reported that the South Korean government was considering sending its personnel to Ukraine, including intelligence officers and North Korea specialists.

I hope that the Ukrainians aren’t getting their hopes too high because I am a bit skeptical about S. Korea doing anything decisive. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the perpetual cowards in Washington were to discourage anything like that.
