Russian ships cannot enter the Syrian port of Tartus in the Mediterranean Sea because they have not received permission from local authorities.
This was stated by the spokesman of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmitry Pletenchuk, on air at the telethon, answering the question of what is happening with the Russian fleet in the Mediterranean Sea after the fall of the regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad.
“The situation in the Mediterranean Sea is very interesting. They (Russian ships – UNIAN) are still at sea. They have not been given permission to enter their base… As of now, they have been at the outer roadstead for several days and cannot enter the port,” Pletenchuk said.
The military man did not specify which units he was talking about.
According to the Ukrainian Navy, on the morning of January 10, there were 7 Russian ships in the Mediterranean Sea, 2 of which were carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo of up to 22 missiles.
As reported by “Military”, the Russian vessel Sparta, which is used to transport military equipment, has not been able to enter the port of Tartus for more than five days.
“Thus, the evacuation of Russian weapons and equipment from Syria was under threat,” the publication says.
At the same time, there are no enemy ships on duty in the Black Sea.
“Currently, all enemy missile carriers (of the Russian Black Sea Fleet – UNIAN) are observed at the Novorossiysk base. These are 8 units – 3 submarines, 2 corvettes, 3 missile boats…”, Pletenchuk said.
