They wanted to burn Ukraine, but got a boomerang blow: a “dead zone” appeared in the Russian borderland

The full-scale war unleashed by Russian dictator Putin has not only brought much grief to Ukrainians, but has also hit the population of the Russian Federation. A huge number of forcibly mobilized Russians have returned home as “cargo 200”, but now there is a new “scourge” on the territory of the aggressor country – a “dead zone” has appeared on the border with Ukraine.

Karma in action

The authorities of the Belgorod region decided to ban entry into 14 settlements where an “extremely difficult operational situation” is developing from July 23.

According to the region’s governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, entry will be closed to 14 settlements in the Belgorod, Shebekinsky, Grayvoronsky, Krasnoyarsk and Borisovsky districts. Entry of public transport, including taxis, is now also prohibited here – checkpoints will be set up.

“If residents want to come, they will need to submit an application to the heads of settlements or heads of municipalities. We will only allow adult men to enter according to strict regulations: in an armored vehicle with electronic warfare, in personal protective equipment – a bulletproof vest and helmet – and accompanied by military personnel,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Starting today, kindergartens in the 20-kilometer zone will also be closed; previously, their operation was prohibited only in the five-kilometer border strip.

In Russia, they complain that the Belgorod region is “regularly attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.” The number of attacks has allegedly increased to 300-400 per month, which is, they say, about 10 times more than in neighboring regions of the Russian Federation.

However, both the authorities of the aggressor country and the media are silent about what the root cause was and that Ukrainian soldiers are exclusively reacting to threats from the Russian Federation and neutralizing them. Because it is from the territory of the Russian Federation (in this case, from the Belgorod Region) that Russian occupation troops are shelling Ukraine and launching missiles at peaceful cities. Kharkov is especially hard hit.

They are being thrown out of their homes

The Russian authorities promised to help residents of the Belgorod region who were faced with eviction, with rent payments, and presented this as a huge achievement. A family will receive 10,000 rubles per month (equivalent to approximately UAH 4,700 at the NBU exchange rate), and a large family will receive 15,000 rubles (approximately UAH 7,000).

Russians perceived this as a mockery. The fact is that rent for even a one-room apartment in Belgorod starts at 12 thousand rubles, and for a two-room apartment in normal condition – on average 16-18 thousand.

An OBOZ.UA source in Kharkov, who has relatives living in the Belgorod region, says that “everyone there is furious.”

“The locals expected that they would be provided with free housing, but this never happened. Plus, people do not want to live in apartments, since almost everyone had their own farm, vegetable gardens, greenhouses. They fed themselves from the land. How can they survive in an apartment? And renting a house is a completely impossible task for them, in the same Belgorod it is 25-30 thousand rubles – the monthly salary of a Belgorod security guard,” the Kharkov resident shared.

According to him, residents of the Russian border region are angry at both their authorities and the military.

“They say that if there weren’t such a predominance of their own, Russian, soldiers and military equipment in the border area, if they weren’t shelling Ukraine from there, then everyone would live peacefully. But now they are forced to remain without housing, for which, by the way, they will continue to pay for utilities,” added the Kharkov resident.

On social networks, residents of the Russian border region complain that the authorities are mocking them as best they can: they say that Chechnya built houses for Palestinian refugees, but not a penny was found for their own compatriots from the Belgorod region.

Other examples are also given. For example, when someone drives quickly past a MLRS from which the occupiers are firing, or tries to drive away from a drone spotted in the sky – then they get fines from the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (former State Automobile Inspectorate) for speeding.

It has already reached the point of open clashes between border residents and servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces. There are especially many conflicts with Kadyrov’s men, some of whom are currently in the Belgorod region. The locals are furious because of their constant “give it to me” (demanding vegetables, fruits) and “excessive attention to girls.”

Apparently, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Residents of the Belgorod region fear that if the war continues, the “dead zone” will soon cover a much larger area.
