On September 2, Kyiv said goodbye to Eva Reuter (callsigns Planochka, Alice), a 25-year-old paramedic from the “Hospitaliery” medical battalion. The girl died on the night of August 1 during a repeated Russian strike when she arrived at the scene of the attack to help the wounded.

Farewell

Dozens of people came to say goodbye to Eva Reuter: relatives, friends, brothers and sisters. They brought flowers, yellow-and-blue flags, and stuffed animals associated with the girl. Her family had requested this the day before.

After the farewell ceremony at St. Michael’s Cathedral, a column of people headed to Independence Square. Her memory was honored with a minute of silence.

“Eva took on everything the front needed. And she did it with the utmost selflessness. Everyone who worked with her knows that she was restless, caring, with a keen sense of justice. She could not ignore someone else’s misfortune. We lost a person who could be relied on in anything, every moment. We remember her as she was ,” said Yulia Shevchuk, head of the “Hospitaliery” charity.

Eva Reuter was buried at the Berkovets Cemetery.

More about Eva

  • Eva Reuter joined the Hospitallers in November 2022. Together with the medical battalion, she evacuated the wounded from combat zones, worked at stabilization points, and advised servicemen. She also worked for over a year in the strike unmanned aerial vehicle company of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade.
  • Before joining the military, Eva was an artist and art critic. She earned a bachelor’s degree from NAOMA, worked in game development and as a tattoo artist. She was also involved in human rights and environmental initiatives.
  • According to her friend Sonia, Eva also facilitated the recruitment of foreigners into the Defence Forces and worked with drones.
