The United States cannot just sit and watch as the Russians kill civilians in Ukraine, said American pastor and spiritual advisor to US President Donald Trump Mark Burns in an interview with the YouTube channel Actually MAX.

When asked by a journalist what advice Burns would give the White House chief of staff regarding Ukraine, he listed three points:

  • The US must be confident that Ukraine has all the necessary arsenal of weapons needed to confront Russian aggression;
  • Pressure should be put on Europe to ensure that all countries and NATO are on Ukraine’s side. Burns noted that Ukraine is not a member of the Alliance, but NATO countries must understand that Russia is their enemy. He stressed that Ukraine is currently the only military force standing between war and peace in Europe;
  • Ukraine must have reliable security guarantees so that European countries and the United States can be sure that Russia will never dare to attack again.

“This is the most important thing and it should happen now,” the spiritual advisor to the US president believes.

Burns also shared that he does not believe in real peace unless Russia admits its guilt.

“They need to repent at the state level. So far we haven’t seen even a hint of that,” the American pastor noted.

Burns believes that Russia must pay for all war crimes committed against Ukrainian civilians, children, and military personnel.

US participation in peace talks between Ukraine and the Russian Federation

UNIAN previously reported that Russia accused the United States of refusing to fulfill the agreements reached between Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump at the summit in Anchorage in August 2025. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said that the American side had failed to fulfill its part of the obligations.

Moreover, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov suggested that the summit could only be an American tactical ploy to re-equip and rearm the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

We also wrote that the FT, citing two sources familiar with the closed negotiations at the last G7 summit, said that Trump was impressed by Ukraine’s recent campaign to strike targets in Russia.

According to senior Ukrainian officials, Ukraine’s successful strikes pushed Trump to decide to tighten sanctions on the Russian energy sector. In addition, there are signs that the US president is becoming more inclined to provide more active support to Ukraine. The publication recalled that Trump often changes his mind about how the Russia-Ukraine war is developing.

  1. Two pieces have appeared on this and related topics in the FT. They are behind a paywall, but a friend of mine who has an account will copy and paste for me.

    Pastor Burns himself has repented. He went to Ukraine and delivered a passionate speech admitting he had been completely fooled by maga anti-Ukraine propaganda.
    Unfortunately he was not able to convince Krasnov, who only a few days ago regurgitated the “$320 billion” lie, only this time his addled brain attributed the fake spend to Obama instead of Biden.
    The real figure is not even one third of that and in any case any freedom-loving American would be only too pleased to be associated with helping a nation suffering genocide.
    The latest former magaputler shithead to repent is Laura Loomer, who has now turned 180° on Ukraine.
    Whether her words will get through to Krasnov is not yet known.
    In any case, his words and deeds have caused death, destruction and misery to Ukraine, so he’s got a hell of a lot to make up for.

  2. Any repenting will only be possible after regime change, whether we’re talking about the Kremlin or the US. There are two paths to salvation within the US Republican party: 1) Trump gets impeached in the House and removed by the Senate after disastrous midterm elections. Vancekov, under intense pressure from the people and the party, repents. This is a person who will go where the wind blows and is desperate to win in 2028. Recall that Vacekov once called Trump “America’s Hitler”, and now he’s Trump’s biggest supporter. 2) After losing the election in 2028, the Republican party purges itself of the putin- and Nazi-loving faction (recall Elon Musk’s Sieg Heil salute) and repents, attempting to gain some traction again with voters. If you think both or either of these scenarios is unlikely or even absurd, then you answered the question of whether US leadership will repent.
