In his comment following Russia’s night air attack on Ukraine on October 5, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha underlined the critical importance of increasing pressure on Russia:

💬 “To stop this escalation of terror, Russia must face increased transatlantic pressure, particularly on its energy revenues.

Buying Russian energy is equal to funding war crimes against Ukraine. Together, we can and should deprive the Russian war machine of resources for terror.”

According to updated information, at least five people were killed. In the Lviv region, an entire family – four people, including a teenage girl – was killed in their own home 🕯

On the night of October 5, 2025, Russia killed at least five more people in Ukraine, striking regions in the west, east, north, and south of the country. About 10 people are reportedly injured.

To launch these relentless attacks, Russia deployed a wide range of weapons from its deadly arsenal – over 50 missiles, including cruise missiles and Kinzhals, as well as around 500 attack drones. Infrastructure was among the targets.

Ukraine urgently needs strengthened air defense and the rapid implementation of existing defense agreements to stop Russia’s air terror. The path to diplomacy can open through a unilateral ceasefire in the skies – and through decisive actions by America and Europe.

What will it take for our European neighbors to wake up to reality?

Ukraine is Europe and Ukrainians are dying every day defending the countries of western Europe from the malign actions of Imperial Russia.

It is time for Europe, in particular, writ large to energetically embrace “peace through strength” in the spirit of “all for one and one for all.”

Stalemate is not a viable option for Ukraine.

A ceasefire for its own sake would solely serve the interests of the Russian Federation.

Only the speedy and decisive defeat of the Russian Federation’s armed forces in Ukraine will lead to a just and equitable peace, Russian accountability, and a brighter future for Europe and the world.

Our future prosperity depends on what we do today to turn back the tide of Russian Imperialism.

Russia committed another heinous war crime, targeting a railway station in Ukraine’s Sumy region with a drone strike on October 4, 2025. At least 30 people were injured, including passengers and railway personnel.

This attack, just one of thousands deliberately launched against civilians, once again proves that Russia’s strategy is built on terror. For more than 11 years, it has deliberately targeted civilians and refused to stop its war.

It’s time for partners in the United States and Europe to act decisively and hold Russia accountable for its relentless terror and disregard for peace efforts.

Hearing of this news while I am on a passenger train to Kyiv at the same time is a wakeup call for what the Russians are willing to do to create fear and terror in Europe. Let this be a wakeup call for NATO/EU/’the West’.  We cannot stand by while these attacks persist!  We need to draw a hard line against targeting civilians.
