Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that Russia does not pose a real military threat to NATO countries. According to him, the Russian army has proven to be not strong enough to achieve its goals in Ukraine and is therefore not capable of launching an attack on the alliance.
He said this in an interview with the French channel LCI. Orban emphasized that he is not afraid of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine expanding to a global scale.
“The Russians are too weak for that. They can’t even defeat Ukraine, so they can’t really attack NATO,” he said.
At the same time, he expressed doubt about the possibility of Ukraine winning the war. Orban once again repeated the narrative that real negotiations to end the war should take place not between Ukraine and Russia, but between Moscow and Washington.
“Neither Europe nor Ukraine will be able to reach an agreement with Russia. Ukraine will lose the war, and Europe will be too involved in it. It needs to be an agreement between the Russians and the Americans,” the Hungarian Prime Minister said.
As OBOZ.UA reported, next year parliamentary elections will be held in Hungary and, analysts suggest, “beating” Orban will be painful both inside the country, where he is gradually losing popularity, and on the international stage. Currently, the EU and the Hungarians are trying to “suffocate” the scandalous politician in the government.
