Ukrainian intelligence reported that the first North Korean units have already been spotted in the Kursk region, but the Pentagon has not yet confirmed this.

If North Korea enters the Russian war against Ukraine, the United States will not impose new restrictions on the use of American weapons by Ukrainian troops. This was stated by the Pentagon, writes Reuters .

The deployment of North Korean troops is said to be fueling Western concerns that the war in Ukraine, which has been going on for more than 2.5 years, could widen even as the world’s attention shifts to the Middle East. It could be a sign that Russia hopes to offset mounting battlefield losses and continue to slowly but surely win victories in eastern Ukraine.

“Deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea poses a threat to both Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic security,” NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told reporters after talks with a South Korean delegation.

The Pentagon estimates that 10,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to eastern Russia for military exercises.

“Some of these soldiers have already moved closer to Ukraine, and we are increasingly concerned that Russia intends to use these soldiers in combat or in support of combat operations against Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of Russia near the border with Ukraine,” Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said.
