“There are no longer any safe roads for the occupier”: Zelensky spoke about the implementation of the long-range sanctions plan

06/1/2026

The defense forces have the ability to strike at the military logistics of the invaders virtually throughout the entire depth of the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. In the south and east of our country, there are practically no safe roads left for the Russian army.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this on Monday, June 1, while recording his traditional evening address to citizens. The video was published by the press service of the President of Ukraine on
YouTube .

Anniversary of the special operation “Web”

The President recalled that it was on June 1, 2025, that the final stage of “Web” was implemented after long and thorough preparation.

“Our operation, which changed a lot. Ukraine proved that Ukrainian long-range sanctions matter, and since then our ability to return the war to Russia has only grown. And this is rightly so – in response to everything that Russia does,” he emphasized.

As a result of strikes by Ukrainian FPV drones, which were successfully transported to the territory of the Russian Federation, 41 enemy aircraft were destroyed and damaged. This is strategic aviation, which the occupiers use to strike our country.

“Today I honored with state awards those people who directly tried to make “Pavutiny” happen. I cannot say any details about these people publicly, and it will have to remain non-public for a long time. A special operation, a special regime of secrecy. But I thanked them on behalf of all Ukrainians.”

“Website was the largest and most unexpected Russian loss in this war. Proof that our asymmetric operations, our long-range capability, and Ukrainian creativity really work to protect the state,” Zelenskyy noted.

Increasing long-range pressure on Russia

“Now our soldiers have the ability to deliver Russian military logistics virtually to the entire depth of the temporarily occupied territory. There are practically no safe roads for the occupier in the south and east of our country. Another proof that there will be no quiet times for the occupier on our land,” the president said.

The consequences of such strikes are noticeable – for example, the fuel shortage in the occupied Crimea and other TOTs.

Zelensky assured that “the plan of our long-range sanctions is being implemented step by step .” Between January and May 2026, Ukraine’s defenders were able to hit 15 Russian refineries. This is a significant result, the head of state noted.

“There are already Russian bans on the export of aviation fuel and gasoline from their territory, and they are considering a ban on the export of diesel. For a country that was recently called a gas station, losing even this is a significant story, a significant loss. Almost 40% of primary oil refining in Russia as of May has been put out of service,” the president said.

Economic situation in the Russian Federation

On June 1, Zelenskyy heard a detailed report from the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleg Luhovsky, on the economic condition of the enemy.

“Russia will drive into this wall of real crisis due to its stupidity. We have been saying for a long time that the Russians must end this war of theirs, all formats of real negotiations, all formats of guaranteeing security, the format of a decent peace have been proposed by Ukraine. The only one from whom a decision is needed is the Russian leader. Who does not even get all the statistics on what is really happening,” Zelensky said. Ukraine will make reality even more obvious for the Russians, he emphasized.

The Head of State thanked Ukraine’s friends for their sanctions and pressure on the aggressor. “There is a new detention of a Russian tanker – thank you France. It is important that Europe takes a strong step and modernizes its legislation in such a way that such tankers can be stopped and confiscated. The oil that Russia wants to use so much to finance the war should finance defense against aggression. This is realistic to do,” the President noted.

Kyiv knows that Moscow is looking for ways to get around the economic blockade. To do this, it wants to use individual Japanese, European and American companies. “Central Asia also occupies quite a lot of attention in Russian calculations. We know how to counteract this,” Zelensky is confident.

Strengthening the Ukrainian front

Also on Monday, a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters was held. The President thanked all Ukrainian units for their strong defense of positions in the Kupyansk direction, in the Donetsk region, Zaporizhia, and in the south.

“Now the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff, the team of the President’s Office – everyone should look at how to further strengthen the programs that are already in place to strengthen the brigades. Direct funding of combat brigades, fair distribution of personnel, conducting BZVP in brigades – each of these elements has worked well, and we need to look at the resources to strengthen all of this.

“We discussed in detail the situation with air defense – the systems, the missiles for air defense that are available, the agreements with partners that we expect to be implemented. The key thing is anti-ballistics. The Ministry of Defense and Ukrainian diplomats must be as active as possible. We need results from every country that can help us,” Zelensky said.

Warning of possible massive shelling

The President added that the threat of an enemy air strike is still relevant, as the aggressor has already prepared for it.

“Intelligence warnings about Russian strikes remain in effect. A massive strike could happen – they have prepared it. Our sky defenders are ready 24/7 as much as possible with the available supplies,” he said.

Work on a new prisoner exchange

” One more thing. There is a movement to have exchanges. We are trying to have another stage take place in the near future,” the head of state said.

In addition, Kyiv has agreed with partners in Europe on additional communication. Zelensky expects new meetings to take place and “there will be results.”

“I thank everyone who fights, who works for Ukraine! And please pay attention to air alerts. This is very important. Be sure to use shelters,” the president urged Ukrainians.

As OBOZ.UA wrote:

– On the night of June 1, Russia launched 265 drones over Ukraine . Defenders of Ukrainian skies neutralized 228 targets.

– During May, the enemy attacked our country with the maximum number of missiles and drones since the beginning of the year. The enemy used almost 8.4 thousand air defense systems for strikes.

  1. Zelensky says no negotiations until winter. Happy summer all men and women in the AFU! Zelensky’s diplomatic expertise already exceeds his military record. Maybe Ukraine can recapture a few hundred toilets in the occupied territories while Kyiv and Odesa are running out of patriots. Get doped and cheers! 🍻

      • GFY! I hear everyday from Ukrainian friends what’s really goin on. It’s not as rosy as reported here. Of course ruSSia is bleeding, but not enough to stop Ukrainian men die.

        • Of course, I wish things would move faster for Ukraine in a positive way, but what in the hell do you expect, MIke? And don’t start blathering about negotiations. Even my dog knows that is useless.

          • If all the ‘oil’ attacks would hammer the invaderZ in Donyetsk City, Mariupol etc. it would help more. Symbolic explosions are a hit in the media, but the people praying for rescue are still left behind.

            • Both you and I are not informed enough to make competent opinions as to why Ukraine is doing what it’s doing. The affects on mafia land are not only for spectatular images and videos. Unless Ukraine’s friends and allies finally grow spines and get directly engaged in the war, the country’s possibilites are still limited.
Maybe you could get that disgusting coward Merz to at least send those Taurus he mentioned numerous times before he was elected.
Ukraine is in this alone and is still doing a swell job, regradless of the nonstop bad news. That’s war, and that’s war for a small country alone against a huge evil country.

              • Concerning the situation Ukraine could throw off full-ruSSophobia and enter negotiations with medium demands and show good will, this could also hurt hardcore pro-putler asslickerZ in D.C. Just an idea. I’m not a mother of killed and crippled Ukrainian heroes, so treat my views with some caution.

                • After the Filth broke all these just the last 50 years?

                  Sovereignty and Security Guarantees
Budapest Memorandum (1994): Signed by Russia, the US, and the UK, this agreement guaranteed Ukraine’s territorial integrity and independence in exchange for surrendering its Soviet-era nuclear arsenal. Russia violated this in 2014 by annexing Crimea and breached it again with its 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership (1997): Also known as the “Big Treaty,” this bound Russia and Ukraine to respect each other’s territorial integrity and existing borders. Russia violated the treaty’s core tenets by annexing Crimea and funding proxy separatists in the Donbas.
Six-Point Ceasefire Agreement (2008): Following the 2008 war with Georgia, Russia signed a European Union-mediated ceasefire requiring it to withdraw its forces to pre-war positions. Russia never fully withdrew and established permanent military bases in the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Arms Control and Disarmament Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty (1987): Signed by the US and the Soviet Union, it banned all land-based missiles with ranges between \(500\) and \(5,500\) km. Russia violated the treaty by covertly developing and deploying the 9M729 (SSC-8) cruise missile, ultimately leading to the treaty’s collapse.
Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) (1990): Designed to limit heavy military equipment between NATO and Warsaw Pact nations. Russia suspended its compliance in 2007 and formally withdrew in 2023.
Treaty on Open Skies (1992): Permitted member nations to conduct unarmed observation flights over each other’s territories. Russia violated the pact by restricting flight paths over the Kaliningrad exclave and near the Georgian border, prompting a US withdrawal.
New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) (2010): A nuclear arms reduction pact that mandates on-site inspections. Russia ceased cooperation with treaty-mandated inspections in 2022 and announced a formal “suspension” in 2023, neither of which are legally permitted under the treaty.
                  Foundational Security and Ceasefire Frameworks
Helsinki Final Act (1975): An agreement signed by the Soviet Union and the West that cemented post-WWII borders and committed signatories to respect human rights and the inviolability of state borders. Russia’s invasions of Georgia (2008) and Ukraine (2014) breached these principles.
Minsk I and II Agreements (2014 & 2015): Ceasefire and peace agreements negotiated to resolve the conflict in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region. Russia and its proxy forces committed hundreds of ceasefire violations before launching an escalated invasion in 2022.Chemical Weapons Convention (1997): Banned the development, production, and use of chemical weapons. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) found Russia in violation of the treaty following the use of military-grade Novichok nerve agents on Russian dissidents.

    • “Zelensky says no negotiations until winter.”

Where did you see that? I saw that he said that the window for effective peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow will remain open *until* winter. In other words, he doesn’t want to wait, but if there’s no negotiated ceasefire before winter then it’s expected that ruSSia will again hammer Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure.
