According to him, for 30 years, in all institutions, including law enforcement agencies, one way or another there were intelligence officers from the Russian special services.

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky commented on the issue of traitors in the special services, telling how the war affects this. He said this during a meeting with students of Chernivtsi universities, answering a question about how the state is fighting and plans to fight traitors within the intelligence services and law enforcement agencies.

“The results (of the struggle – UNIAN) are great. At first, many of them leaked information and fled. They simply fled from the territory of Ukraine. This was in the first days of the war. But all of us remained. The traitors were stopped. Someone ran, unfortunately, beyond the territory our state. And maybe fortunately. There are fewer traitors,” Zelensky noted.

According to him, many “preventive exercises” have been done by various law enforcement agencies.

“Because over the years, I don’t really like to remember the past often… Over these 30 years, indeed, in all institutions, including law enforcement agencies, one way or another there were intelligence officers of the special services of the Russian Federation,” he said.

At the same time, the head of state noted that it is still unknown where exactly – in law enforcement agencies or somewhere else – these people did the worst things and “brought grief.”

“Why I said “including law enforcement agencies” – because where they did the most and caused grief – no one knows. This still needs to be compared. In the National Bank, in government agencies, in state-owned enterprises, in the energy industry. They were among government. Thank God, not at the ministerial level, but nevertheless,” Zelensky emphasized.

He emphasized that this was “a large planned work that was financed by Russia from the very beginning.”

“There are a lot of people. Therefore, according to the current legislation, these people have become much smaller… War is a great tragedy. But war definitely helps reduce traitors in Ukraine. This is a fact,” the head of state said.
