Their own secret Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact?

I believe Trump and Putin have made their own secret Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.

There have been at least five official calls between them — and likely more unofficial ones — most occurring in June, just before the U.S. strike on Iran.

No, they weren’t talking about Ukraine. For Trump, Ukraine is an inconvenience, not a priority. So what were they discussing? Only history will tell us.

But I believe there was an implicit deal: Putin would stay out of the Iran conflict — as long as Trump stayed out of Ukraine.

A quiet pact. No signatures. Just like in 1939.

And we all know what happened after that deal was made

🇺🇸📞🇷🇺 Between late May and June 2025, Trump and Putin held at least five official phone calls
At the same time:

June 11–22: Trump pivoted from diplomacy to authorize a covert airstrike on Iran’s nuclear sites, deploying B‑2 stealth bombers, subs, and cruise missiles — executed on June 21–22

Meanwhile, Trump froze lethal military aid to Ukraine in July, triggering impeachment proceedings — a pause that coincided with his increasingly amicable approach to Putin .

Hypothesis:

  • Putin agreed to stay quiet on Iran.
  • Trump, in turn, deprioritized Ukraine by withholding aid and publicly downplaying its importance.

This selective detente echoes the unspoken non-aggression framework of the 1939 Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact — no formal treaty, but a mutual “understanding.”

Why it matters:

Ukraine remains underfunded, under-discussed, and out of sight.
Iran airstrikes proceeded with minimal interference from Moscow.
No sanctions rollback — just silence.
Quiet pacts often herald louder consequences. History shows us that hidden bargains among authoritarian players can create dangerous world order imbalances.

It is unthinkable to me that this is what US foreign policy has come to — horrifying, nauseating, shameful. I suspect you are right.

At the same time, stepping back, the contrasts between the US’s “partners” in the two spheres could not be starker.

Israel, with a population of 10 million, has over the course of a week, systematically dismembered the air defenses, communications networks, security apparatus, command structure and nuclear supply chain of Iran, a country with a population of 80 million and oil reserves that Israel can only fantasize about.

Contrast that with hapless Europe, a confederation of about 450 million and an $18.5 trillion GDP, that poses virtually ZERO threat to Russia, a country of 144 million (and falling by the day) and a GDP of scarcely $2 trillion (less than half that of Germany) led by a second rate troglodyte pipsqueak who can saber-rattle Europe into panic and paralysis with mere public statements. Even now, 3 years into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Europe is STILL debating how to stand up the industrial and military means to defend itself.

And right now, Ukraine suffers the consequences.

No Ukraine meeting at the NATO summit.

What a disgrace.

While russia erases Ukrainian cities night after night — reducing homes, hospitals, and history to rubble — NATO won’t even offer Ukraine a seat at the table.

Rutte, the Secretary General, and the rest of Europe’s leaders have made their choice: appease Putin and the orange guy.

But this isn’t just a betrayal of Ukraine. It’s a betrayal of everything NATO claims to stand for — security, sovereignty, democracy.

And everyone will pay the price for it.

Because the lesson is clear: when dictators see weakness, they don’t stop — they advance.

This narrative reveals not only a temporary weakness, but a true paradigm shift within NATO on the international stage.
Until recently, the Secretary-General and several member states had shown unwavering commitment to strategic and military support for Ukraine. It was a firm and supposedly unshakable pledge to the values of security, sovereignty, and democracy.
Now, we are witnessing a veiled retreat. The absence of any meeting dedicated to Ukraine at the NATO summit is more than just a symbolic gesture — it is a sign of strategic capitulation.
Behind this shift lie internal pressures, fear of a direct escalation with Russia, and likely political calculations tied to the upcoming U.S. elections and the influence of figures such as Trump (“the orange guy”).
The criticism could not be clearer:
“No meeting on Ukraine at the NATO summit. What a disgrace.
While Russia wipes out Ukrainian cities night after night — reducing homes, hospitals, and history to rubble — NATO doesn’t even offer Ukraine a seat at the table.”
This move is described as a betrayal — not only of Ukraine, but of the very principles NATO claims to uphold. And the final warning is blunt and accurate:

“When dictators see weakness, they don’t stop — they advance.”
What’s at stake is not only Ukraine’s survival, but the future credibility of NATO and the global democratic order.

Roman Sheremeta : Double standard. destroy iran’s nuclear capablity but refuse to help UA to win a war against exactly similar regime. there’s no more credibility left whatsoever in US administration.

My recent analysis of the U.S. strike on Iran was published in the Kyiv Post.

It was also great to receive a short comment from Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics, Vernon L. Smith.

  1. I sincerely hope this is not true. Trump can be easily influenced and changes his opinion far more often than his underwear.

    • Except for russia. He’s been advocating for them at least since he married his first russian-speaking wife, whose father was an active KGB informant.
Whether Krasnov is an active agent or not, whether he has the type of secret agreement that Roman extrapolates or not, the effect on Ukraine is the same.
The actions that Krasnov takes and the many words he utters on Ukraine are exactly what one might expect from a ruZZian agent.
His head of intel; Gabbard, behaves and speaks exactly as a putinaZi agent would. Her positions are little different from the sulfurous nazi Margarita Simonyan.
Why would any US president hire such an obvious putinaZi agent of influence for one of the most important jobs?

      • Could be true or not. We must stay optimistic and fight, blow the dark clouds Putler sent us away. As long as Ukraine and her loyal allies keep fighting nothing is lost. Putler is hoping we get tired. Never get tired.
