“The war is not over yet”: Zelenskyy said what is the situation with the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine

02/14/2026

Germany is not ready to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to the Ukrainian Defense Forces at this time. But this topic is not completely closed.

This was stated by the President Volodymyr Zelensky. On Saturday, February 14, after participating in the Munich Security Conference, he spoke with representatives of the press. The recording of the press conference was published on the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian President.

The journalist asked: “Do you think there are any prospects for Ukraine to receive new types of weapons? Is the Taurus topic no longer relevant in the context of Germany?”

“Taurus is not everything. The war is not over yet,” the president replied.

In English, he added: “Regarding the decision on Taurus from Germany. You know that yesterday we opened a production, a successful production line, which I have already visited. This is a joint production of drones by Germany and Ukraine.”

“We don’t have a decision from the German side yet, I’ll be frank with you. But I need to find a balance in the dialogue about what to choose. I can’t choose everything – of course, I would like to choose everything during the war, but I can’t do that. I hope you understand why. I have to choose something. And I choose what I can get now,” Zelensky explained.

What preceded

Discussions about the need to transfer German Taurus missiles to Ukraine were very loud at one time, but the topic gradually faded into insignificance. Berlin never agreed to include these weapons in military aid packages.

Friedrich Merz, while still a candidate for the position of Chancellor of Germany, publicly supported this idea. He noted that this would require the consent of all European partners. After taking office, Merz spoke much more cautiously about the prospects for the transfer of Taurus.

In July 2025, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that his country did not plan to transfer this weapon to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Taurus rocket

Taurus is a German-Swedish technology, air-to-surface cruise missile, adopted for service in 2004. There are at least eight modifications.

Taurus main features:

– takeoff weight: 1360 kg, including the warhead 481 kg;

– fuselage length: 5.1 m, width – 1.08 m;

– launch range: approximately 500 km;

– flight speed: subsonic, up to Mach 0.95, i.e. up to 1000 km/h.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, earlier the head of the German federal government, Friedrich Merz, noted that the Ukrainian military-industrial complex is capable of independently producing long-range missiles. According to him, they are a better option than some of those that Europe could provide.

  1. Merz had a very big mouth when he was running for the chancellor’s office, and then he chickened out. He is no better than Scholz. He is just another lying politician with no spine.
