The war that Russia continues to wage against Ukraine may last longer than “we all can imagine.”
This statement was made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a forum of the WDR television and radio company, writes BILD . It is noted that the Chancellor came to this conclusion given that attempts to achieve a ceasefire were unsuccessful.
“It is clear that Putin perceives proposals for negotiations as weakness.
If even the proposal to meet in the Vatican does not meet with approval from the Russian leadership, then we will probably have to accept that this war will last longer than we all wish or can imagine,” Merz said.

There has not been any attempt at negotiations, just an ultimatum from russia. As long as the EU and US keep buying russian products this war will never end.

The West has been slow walking aid to Ukraine for much too long. Sanctions have been full of loopholes and secondary sanctions have been slow, weak, and not far-reaching enough. Hungary has been allowed to make a farce out of the EU and NATO, and so has Slovakia.
