President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called the tragedy the killing of a military medic and the wounding of soldiers during the evacuation of the body of a dead soldier in the Donbass.

This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

The department said that Zelensky is in control of the situation.

The president’s office added that the chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ruslan Khomchak, and the deputy head of the President’s Office, Roman Mashovets, left for the job of the head of state.

“We express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims. This is an incomprehensible tragedy for them, for us, for the country, ”Zelensky said.

According to him, the killing of the Ukrainian military, who wanted to take the body of a dead soldier from the battlefield near Zaitsevo, “is yet another proof of the cynicism, deceit and inhumanity of the militants.”

“There can be no double interpretation. There is a specific intentional crime – murder, ambush and re-murder. All this once again convinces us that the war continues, ”the president said.

Zelensky said the war would continue as long as there were people on the other side of the front line who were interested in destabilizing the situation and while fighters open fire after confirming the “silence” regime with white helmets and medics.

According to the head of state, “the tragedy once again brings us back to understanding our fundamental values.”

“Ukraine must strictly guard its territories. Ukraine must toughly respond to the vile actions of militants. Ukraine should clearly understand the risks posed by the existence of gray criminal enclaves. Ukraine should always know the price of the “promises” of that side, ”he said.

The day before, during the evacuation of the body of a dead soldier near the village of Zaitsevo, the evacuation group was ambushed by the invaders.

Terrorists almost point-blank shot representatives of the evacuation group from small arms. As a result of the shelling, a military medic died, one soldier was injured, and another was injured.

After that, the militants continued shelling from grenade launchers of various systems and heavy machine guns, and therefore further evacuation was impossible.

Now the bodies of the military are at the site of the shelling and require evacuation.
