The Wall Street Journal: Three scientists from the Institute of Virology in Wuhan were seriously ill in November 2019. It could have been a coronavirus

At least three scientists working at the Wuhan Institute of Virology were seriously ill in November 2019. Writes about this The Wall Street Journal with reference to an unpublished report of American intelligence.

As intelligence found out, the disease was “serious enough” – the scientists had to be treated in a hospital. At the same time, the symptoms of the disease were similar to both the coronavirus and the usual seasonal ARVI.

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry told the publication that the United States “continues to promote the version of the leak.” “I wonder if the US is really concerned about figuring out the source of the virus, or is it trying to divert attention in this way?” – said the department.

In March, WHO published a 120-page report on the origin of the coronavirus – the most likely version of the transmission of the virus to humans from animals. China, which officially assisted the authors of the report in their work, was criticized for not providing all the data at its disposal.

The Institute of Virology in Wuhan, supporters of the version about the artificial origin of the coronavirus call the place where it could have been created. At the same time, these assumptions have been repeatedly rejected at the official level, but there is no evidence to support them.

The first officially confirmed case of coronavirus was recorded on December 8, 2019. However, most epidemiologists and virologists believe that the disease spread to Wuhan in November.

  1. People have been getting sick in Wuhan since long before that. Transit passengers at Wuhan airport since Aug 2019 and participants in the Wuhan military games in October that year.
