There are only 300 legal entities and individuals on the new list of sanctions.

The USA announced the introduction of sanctions against almost 300 companies and individuals, in particular in China and the United Arab Emirates, for supporting the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine.

According to Bloomberg, among the Chinese companies are Hong Kong-based Finder Technology Ltd, which is accused of exporting 293 batches of parts for drones and other electronics, Shenzhen-based Juhang Aviation Technology Co, which is responsible for supplying Russia with propellers for drones, signal silencers, sensors and engines, and Zhongcheng Heavy Equipment Defense Technology Group Co Ltd, which participated in the supply of “Wagner” PVC.

The Treasury also targeted for the first time manufacturers and suppliers of cotton pulp and nitrocellulose, which are precursors for making gunpowder, rocket fuel and other explosives. Russian and Chinese companies involved in the trade of these materials were sanctioned.

Among the companies from the Russian Federation are Pobeda, a subsidiary of Aeroflot, the Ural car plant, the Proton plant, a number of Sybantracyt structures, the Bryansk Automobile Plant and other organizations.

The move came shortly after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned Chinese officials that the US would crack down on any firms that help Russia with military procurement.

Yellen said the sanctions, along with recently approved additional funding, mean Ukraine will gain a “critical advantage on the battlefield.”

Yellen also warned that the U.S. could impose sanctions on Chinese banks involved in “significant transactions” that facilitate the import of military or dual-use goods. However, the message published on Wednesday did not name any financial institutions from China so far. .

Chinese companies Hengshui Heshuo Cellulose Co. Ltd. and Hengshui Yuanchem Trading Ltd. accused of supplying large batches of nitrocellulose to Russia.

The Ministry of Finance also imposed sanctions on Albait Al Khaleeje General Trading LLC, based in the UAE, for acting as a conduit for the supply of sanctioned goods to Russia. The company, which advertises itself as an exporter of auto parts, was involved in more than 6,800 deliveries to Russian customers, the agency said .

At the same time, the American authorities are “especially concerned” about companies in third countries that help the Russian authorities to circumvent restrictions. Sanctions were imposed against companies from Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, Slovakia, Turkey and the UAE, the US Treasury announced.

Separately, the State Department has imposed sanctions against companies and individuals it believes have participated in sanctions evasion or in support of Russia’s chemical and biological weapons programs.

Sanctions against the Russian Federation – details

The European Union is considering the possibility of introducing sanctions against more than a dozen companies that continue to supply Russia with sanctioned goods.

Bloomberg writes that these companies, based in Russia, as well as in Turkey, the UAE, China and Hong Kong, imported millions of euros worth of sanctioned goods from Europe that were used by the Russian military.

The European Union considers its primary task to stop the activities of companies that circumvent sanctions regarding goods found in Russian weapons. It is noted that Russia continues to receive prohibited technologies worth tens of millions of euros through third countries, as well as companies and subsidiaries in these countries.
