Democrats stressed the importance of providing funding for both Ukraine and Israel in addition to humanitarian aid, border security funding and other issues.
On Tuesday, November 7, Democrats in the US Senate blocked attempts by Republican Party representatives to approve an emergency aid bill for Israel, which was passed by the House of Representatives last week and does not include assistance to Ukraine.
Reuters writes about this . Republican Sen. Roger Marshall said time is of the essence and “it is imperative that the Senate does not delay the delivery of this critical aid to Israel one day.”
But Democrats rejected that approach, emphasizing the importance of providing aid to Ukraine as well as Israel, in addition to humanitarian aid, funding for border security and money to push back against China in the Indo-Pacific region. That’s what President Joe Biden sent to Congress last month in a $106 billion funding request.
Democratic officials also accused Republicans of playing politics over the situation in Israel by tying aid to the country to cuts in funding for the US Internal Revenue Service.
“Our allies in Ukraine cannot afford a delay, and neither can our allies in Israel,” said Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray.

Israel can look after themselves quite well without funding from the US. They are fighting a bunch of rag arsed terrorists, not a full blown nazi state like russia.
I do generally agree, but I do think they might encounter a shortage of shells and especially anti-air missiles.
And I also think this war will lead to the economy of Israel to shrink, as for example tourism has been reduced to near 0.
But of course, they have much deeper pockets than Ukraine.
I have the feeling that supporting Israel is more a domestic thing in the U.S. than really about Israel, as the Democrats may do it as they know the Republicans generally support Israel and they hoped to spread the narrative that Israel and Ukraine are both fighting a common enemy.
The Democrats aren’t really happy with the way the Israelis wage war, as the number of civilian casualties is going through the roof.
This being said, I honestly don’t know how much Israel is trying to reduce civilian casualties, as the numbers in the media are often biased as in the end the numbers are based on what Hamas tells other organisations like the UN.
What I do find suspicious is that the Israeli intelligence couldn’t predict the attack on the 8th of October, but now seem to know exactly in what buildings there is Hamas presence and in what buildings there isn’t.
I really wonder how good Israel is in targeting the bad guys and avoiding to kill civilians.

I don’t understand the urgency about Israel. They are NOT fighting a massive, well-equipped army. They’ve already surrounded Gaza City. Why not just sit tight until food and water have run out and the rats come scurrying out voluntarily? Or just die?
Ukraine’s problems are extraordinarily more massive.
I’m glad that the Senate has not been infested with trumpist scum, like the House.
12 Democrats also voted to separate the aid.
“The measure passed 226 to 196, largely along party lines, a shift from typical strongly bipartisan congressional support for providing aid to Israel. Twelve Democrats voted with 214 Republicans for the bill, and two Republicans joined 194 Democrats in objecting”
I don’t know why or how Ukraine aid has become a partisan issue. But calling people names does have a tendency to turn people off. That’s what Fucker Carlson used to do…
Sorry Red, but when I hear from the scum how they want to refuse aid to Ukraine DESPITE everything evil that’s been happening to the country, DESPITE it wanting to be real friends with us and the West, DESPITE its extremely brave resistance, and DESPITE what a victory means for the fascist mafia regime and for the entire world, then I have no other opinion and can’t help it to call them what they are. I spit on them in disgust on top of that.
Me too but hopefully there is just a few on each side that are ignorant and blinded by partisanship.
Unfortunately the Senate, while not infested, has some choice putlerite assholes too. The worst being Tovarish Rand Paul, but also Tommy Tuberville, Josh Hawley and others:
