These drones will be used, in particular, for testing electronic warfare and radar equipment.
The US Air Force has purchased Chinese DJI drones for guards at a nuclear base in Wyoming, which will be used as training targets, the military portal ” Military ” reports , citing the Defense Blog publication.

It is noted that the relevant tender for small contractors was published on August 14 and the search is underway for drones manufactured specifically by DJI.
“The drones will be used to conduct counter-small drone exercises, in particular for testing electronic warfare, radar, and other systems. The order includes two DJI Mavic 2 Pro quadcopters with Fly More kits, two DJI Mini 3 Pro drones with remote controls, two DJI Avata 2 Fly More kits, and six payload drop devices,” the publication notes.
The document contains a warning that without specific DJI equipment, the “fail-safe nuclear safety mission” will be compromised.
The justification for the purchase states that using only computer simulation data or American-made drones will not allow operators to pass tests to counter real radio signals and DJI communication protocols.
It is noted that for cybersecurity purposes, each purchased DJI aircraft will be equipped with software called RIZER before being put into operation.
The document describes RIZER as a tool that replaces the drone’s firmware and creates what it calls a “system with complete isolation from the outside world that cannot transmit or upload telemetry data or imagery to foreign entities or DoD networks.”
