The money will go towards “supporting critical public services” in Ukraine.

The United States will provide Ukraine with $3.4 billion in direct budget support , the US Treasury Department reported .

It is noted that these funds are the last payment provided for under the US law on additional appropriations for the security of Ukraine in 2024.

“Our direct budget support for Ukraine comes at a critical time, as Russia escalates its attacks on Ukrainian civilians and critical infrastructure. Economic assistance from the United States and our allies is critical to Ukraine’s ability to defend its sovereignty and achieve a just peace by supporting the critical government services that underpin its courageous fight,” said U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen.

American aid to Ukraine

As UNIAN reported, earlier this month the US provided Ukraine with $20 billion as part of the G7 agreements on $50 billion for Ukraine. The funds are provided through World Bank structures, and they are planned to be covered by income from frozen Russian assets.

We also reported that the US announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth almost $2.5 billion. What exactly it includes is not specified, but it is reported that hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles and hundreds of armored vehicles are in the process of being delivered to Ukraine.
