The draft defense budget foresees the allocation of 6 billion dollars to deter Russia in Europe, as well as additional funds to help Ukraine.

The US Senate approved a record $858 billion defense budget for 2023. Of these, $800 million is earmarked for additional aid to Ukraine.
This is reported by The Hill . It is noted that $45 billion more was allocated for defense than was foreseen in the budget of the Biden administration.
The document received bipartisan support in the Senate with a majority of votes. 83 senators voted “for”, 11 against. As indicated, the funds are distributed as follows:
- $317.3 billion for operation and maintenance (including working capital);
- 174.5 billion dollars for maintenance of military personnel;
- $161.3 billion for military procurement;
- $138.6 billion for research and development;
- 30.5 billion dollars for activities in the field of atomic energy;
- 16.5 billion dollars for military construction and family housing.
The draft budget also provides for the allocation of $6 billion to deter Russia in Europe, as well as an additional $800 million to help Ukraine. In addition, the document establishes the extension of the ban on cooperation between the US and Russia in the military sphere for five years. It must now be signed by President Joe Biden.
War in Ukraine: US assistance
As UNIAN reported, the head of the Ministry of Defense, Lloyd Austin, reported that the United States had transferred 20 billion dollars to Ukraine for military purposes.
On December 13, it became known that Ukraine expects aid from the United States of America in the amount of 38 billion dollars . This aid package can be approved by the United States by the end of December, because from January there will be a month or two break in decision-making in Congress due to a change in its composition.
