The United States of America has authorized Ukraine to use long-range (300 km) ATACMS missiles to strike military targets of Russian occupation forces in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The Ukrainian Defense Forces have already used these weapons twice, one of which was a strike on the airfield in Dzhankoy.
This was reported on Thursday, April 25, by The New York Times, citing representatives of the US Department of Defense. One of the goals of transferring long-range systems to Kyiv is to put more pressure on Crimea.
“Ukrainian forces will be able to use the newly delivered, coveted long-range missile system to more effectively defeat Russian forces in occupied Crimea,” The New York Times quoted a Pentagon spokesman as saying.
White House national security advisers say the missile systems could penetrate deeper into Russian-occupied Ukraine and target Russian military supply hubs in the southeast.
The purpose of the long-range systems is to put more pressure on Crimea, where Russian air and ground forces are concentrated, “where Russia currently has a relatively safe haven,” a senior defense official told reporters.
The Pentagon refused to indicate the exact number of long-range systems that were sent to Ukraine.
The publication’s interlocutors also said that Ukraine used ATACMS to strike Russian troops in the port city of Berdyansk. Also one of the targets was the airfield in Dzhankoy (Crimea).
Let us note that earlier the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that our military needs long-range ATACMS missiles to destroy targets, primarily military airfields, in the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the United States secretly sent ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine back in March 2024. Since the beginning of April, the Ukrainian military has already used these weapons twice against targets behind Russian lines.

The real news is the long-range ATACMS that Ukraine if finally receiving. I still don’t know if any hard-hitting ones will be included in the package. They are necessary to do what should’ve been done at the beginning of the war; destroy the Kerch Bridge.
If Ukraine does have them or will get them, we’ll know soon enough. They must plan the strikes carefully, though, and so it might take a bit of time. Or, they’ve already planned it in advance in anticipation of getting them, and so the wait might not be a long one.
“The Pentagon refused to indicate the exact number of long-range systems that were sent to Ukraine.”
I hope it stays that way. No one outside of Washington and Kyiv must know.
In the meantime, Scholzy boy is still a blind fool and is completely oblivious to the need to send the Taurus missiles to Ukraine. He must have a high level of confidence in his broom handle-armed Bundeswehr.
