Ukraine will receive military assistance from the United States – howitzers and tactical drones.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“Ukraine will receive an $800 million military aid package. It includes howitzers and tactical drones. In addition, the United States will provide Ukraine with direct economic assistance in the amount of $500 million,” he said.

Yermak also added that the US president announced a ban on Russian-linked ships from entering US ports.

In turn, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told in detail what will be included in the new aid package for Ukraine. According to him, the US will provide 72 155-mm howitzers and tactical vehicles to tow them, as well as 144,000 additional artillery rounds.

In addition, the new package includes more than 120 Phoenix Ghost tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, which the US Air Force has developed “in response, in particular, to Ukrainian requirements.” The drones “provide similar capabilities” to the Switchblade drones that were delivered to Ukraine last time.

At the same time, the US Department of Defense said that the Phoenix Ghost is “a tactical weapon that is designed to strike, and it could be expected that it would be useful against a number of different targets.”

“This is a great example of adapting to the needs of Ukrainians in real time,” the official added.

The system will require minimal training for experienced drone operators, Kirby said: “We’re going to be working on these training requirements directly with the Ukrainian military.”

As UNIAN previously reported, US President Joe  Biden issued a new statement  on the situation in Ukraine. According to him, now Russia has reoriented the company to seize new territories in eastern Ukraine.

According to him, Ukraine will receive  a new $800 million military support package  and $500 million in economic assistance, and also announced a  program for Ukrainian refugees .
