The US Senate supported a bill on the use of seized assets of the Russian Federation to help war-torn Ukraine.

House of Representatives member Tom Malinovsky reported this on  Twitter . He was the initiator of this document.

According to the congressman, the bill was passed as an amendment to the bill on financing the US federal government. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on it later.

Senior adviser to the US Congress, Paul Massaro, also confirmed this information on Twitter .

“The US Senate has just voted unanimously to transfer the confiscated assets of oligarchs to Ukraine,” he wrote.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham explained that this amendment will allow the US Department of Justice, through the Secretary of State, to transfer income from the seized assets of the oligarch or other sanctioned organizations of the people of Ukraine, writes  CNN . It will also be a “relief for American taxpayers” and a “bad day for oligarchs.”

Arrest of Russian assets

In the USA, the Democrats offered to  finance Ukraine with the seized assets of the Russian Federation , but the Republicans opposed it.

The Office of the President of Ukraine urged Western partners to stop looking for excuses and  hand over frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.

The European Union is also considering the possibility of transferring the frozen assets of the Russian Federation to Ukraine .
