The US is closely monitoring the fact that PMK “Wagner” seeks to recruit mercenaries from Serbia and other countries.
US State Department adviser Derek Cholle said that the United States of America is working to neutralize the activities of PMC “Wagner” around the world.
According to AP , during the negotiations with the President of Serbia Oleksandr Vučić in Belgrade, Čolle noted that the USA is closely monitoring the fact that PMK “Wagner” seeks to recruit mercenaries from Serbia and other countries, and this cannot be allowed.
“I don’t know if there are concerns (in Serbia – ed.), we talked about our concerns and we look forward to working together with the government here in Belgrade and in other places where PVK Wagner is active to put the edge of its activity,” the adviser of the State Department emphasized.
According to him, PMC “Wagner” “acts terribly all over the world, be it in Libya, the Central African Republic or just now in Ukraine.” In addition, Čolle called on Serbia to introduce sanctions against Russia.
“We believe that countries should sign up to the sanctions, as Russia’s actions should not only be condemned, but also punished. Russia is waging a brutal, unjustified war against Ukraine every day. We must make it clear that such behavior is unacceptable,” he added.
Activities of PVK “Wagner”
The fighters of the “Wagner” military command center currently make up about a quarter of the total number of Russian troops in Ukraine. According to representatives of one of the Western intelligence agencies, the role of the “Wagner group” in the Russian military campaign against Ukraine is constantly growing.
In addition, Russia is expanding the activities of PVK “Wagner” outside of Ukraine. The number of operations involving militants has increased in Africa and Europe. Mercenaries are used to suppress anti-Putin sentiments and promote the interests of the Russian Federation in the mining industry.
