The United States has confirmed its intention to transfer Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine to support the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Psaki, the White House recently announced to Congress its intention to supply Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine from US Department of Defense reserves.
The White House spokeswoman reaffirmed that the US government had allowed three NATO countries (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) to hand over previously US-made weapons to Ukraine.
It should be noted that a few days ago our colleagues from the Defense Blog portal announced that the United States will hand over to Ukraine Mi-17B5 and Mi-8MTV helicopters, which were previously in the service of the Afghan Air Force. According to the publication, the first batch is allegedly planned to be sent in the spring of 2022.
The Defense Blog notes that Ukraine should receive five Mi-17B5 helicopters and one Mi-8MTV from the Afghan army. Today, it is difficult to say whether helicopter supplies will increase over time, but it is known that about two dozen Afghan Air Force helicopters are located in third countries and could potentially be delivered to US allies.
In addition to Russian helicopters, the United States can operate a number of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the Afghan army.
