The UN supported the anti-Russian draft resolution of Ukraine and Europe: the US opposed it

The United States called for the withdrawal of the draft resolution by Ukraine and Europe.

The UN General Assembly supported the anti-Russian draft resolution initiated by Ukraine and European countries. This was announced during today’s session .

It should be noted that the United States did not support the anti-Russian draft resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on Ukraine. Moreover, Washington called for its withdrawal. This was stated by the US Chargé d’Affaires to the UN Dorothy Shea during her speech.

“Today we are gathered here on the occasion of the third anniversary (of the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine – UNIAN) and we need a resolution that would outline the commitment of all member states to a lasting end to the war. The draft resolution submitted by the United States is dedicated to this. Our draft is aimed at a rapid settlement of the conflict and urges for a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia,” she said.

According to the US Chargé d’Affaires to the UN, Washington’s statement will help end the war in Ukraine.

“We urge all member states, including Ukraine and Russia, to support us in this effort. This is a simple, historic statement by the General Assembly that looks to the future, not the past. The resolution focuses on one simple idea – to end the war. The path to peace is possible. That is why the United States of America cannot support the Ukrainian resolution and we ask that it be withdrawn. We ask you to support our statement to end the war,” Shi emphasized.

Later, the UN General Assembly nevertheless supported the resolution initiated by Ukraine and European countries.
