The UN Secretary General visited Odesa for the first time in history.

Observing the loading of Kubrosli-Y bulker, which will take almost 10 thousand tons of wheat from Odessa port, Antonio Guterres gave a small briefing to Odessa, national and international media at the sea station.

According to the Secretary General, the opening of the grain corridor is the most important step not only for Ukraine, but also for those countries that depend on its harvest. He called on the international community to ensure full global access to food exported by Ukraine.

“No one thought it would be easy, but in the end, the treaty was signed by countries that are in a fierce conflict, which is unprecedented in its scale,” Guterres said. — But still, there is a long way ahead. The delivery of more food to Ukraine is necessary to stabilize trade markets and lower prices, and we understand that Odesa is a visible part of this solution, it is very important for all governments and the private sector to work to ensure delivery, because what happens in 2022 , will affect access to food in 2023. I call for continued work in this direction to ensure peace and global food security. Today, Odesa is more than a trading city and a port, it is an example of what the world can do if there is work together for a common goal.
