An expert explained what kind of weapon this is.

Long-range Pelican aviation-type drone, which was deployed during the massive attack on Moscow on September 20, can travel distances of up to 1,000 kilometers while carrying a 90–100 kg warhead.

This was reported by Bogdan Dolintse, an aviation market expert, on Radio NV. “When it comes to the weapons that were used, many immediately interpreted this as evidence of a Ukrainian long-range ballistic missile being deployed. But there is no confirmation that it was specifically a ballistic missile,” Dolintse noted.

He noted that it was an attack drone, but there is no precise information on its tactical and technical characteristics.

At the same time, based on his observations and the published videos, one can conclude that this is a “drone with an aerodynamic profile” similar to the “Shahed” strike drone (“Geran-2”).



“In other words, it is a flat, gliding munition with a long range. To what extent it resembles, beyond its appearance, the designs used by Russia remains an open question,” Dolintse added.
It should also be noted that this Ukrainian aircraft flew a distance of at least 800–1,000 km. And, judging by the published videos, the warhead weight of this strike drone is likely comparable to that of the “Geran-2”—about 90–100 kg.

Massive Attack on Moscow on September 20

On the night of September 20, a massive attack using various Ukrainian weapons took place on the Moscow Region. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Pelican was among the weapons used.

In connection with this, media reports have emerged stating that this is the first official instance of the use of the Pelican ballistic missile, known as the FP-7.
