For the first time, the Ukrainian military demonstrated the use of the German
Skynex air defense system in a stationary version on the “Zakhid” air defense system in combat conditions. It is able to neutralize a small swarm of drones with one volley.
Spectacular shots were published on the Instagram page of the Zahid air command. The anti-aircraft missile system is equipped with a 35-mm Oerlikon Mk3 automatic cannon, which has an effective firing range of 4,000 meters and a rate of fire of 1,000 rounds per minute.
We will remind that Ukraine received the Skynex system with ammunition from Germany in January 2024. It is capable of shooting down enemy air targets in automatic mode, without human intervention.
Skynex is an anti-aircraft artillery complex produced by the German machine-building and arms concern Rheinmetall. This is the latest development, which was presented only in November 2021. The system is designed to defeat drones, helicopters, cruise missiles and even low-flying aircraft in conditions of radio-electronic countermeasures.
In the basic version, it is offered on an armored wheeled chassis, but other options (on a tracked chassis or in the form of a stationary installation) are not excluded.
