Army units carried out a new retreat from their positions.

Ukrainian troops have withdrawn from the villages of Stepovoye and Severnoye near Avdeevka , Dmitry Likhovoy, spokesman for the press center of the Tauride Defense Forces, said during a telethon on the afternoon of February 27.

At the same time, he confirmed that in the Avdeevsky direction the line of defense in the areas of Tonenkoye, Orlovka and Berdichev had been stabilized.

“In the Avdeevsky direction, our units retreated from the small villages of Severnoye and Stepovoe. Before the war, they had up to 100 residents between them,” said Likhovoy.

He also noted that fierce fighting for the North continued from yesterday evening and into the night. “The enemy suffered heavy losses here,” he said.

When asked how far the lines on the Berdichie-Orlovka-Tonenkoe line are capable of containing the invaders and stopping their advance, the speaker noted that this is classified information.

“I’m not saying what it is, because sometimes they incorrectly interpret that these are fortified lines with large fortifications, because there are different echelons of defense. These are different lines, the landscape there is more favorable. There is, in particular, a certain cascade of reservoirs there. Natural conditions can here to help,” said Likhovoy.

He also added that there was a lot of pressure from the Russians on the settlements located in close proximity to Avdeevka – they were very close. “Now the line of defense lies where I called it: Tonenkoye – Orlovka – Berdich,” the speaker said.

To clarify whether it can be said that military clashes actually take place there, on the outskirts, Likhovoy noted: “In fact, yes.”

The speaker said that if earlier the enemy tried to carry out assault operations in small groups up to the size of a squad, in recent days the Russians have increased the intensity of their attacks and the size of their groups.

“In particular, now these are assault groups of up to a platoon, and sometimes up to a company. As in the Maryinsky direction, in particular. At the same time, they attack more, with larger forces, more are destroyed,” Likhovoy said.

    • Though not cool to hear, AFU is having to make hard choices and move to better fortified positions. I’m so pissed that U.S. aid package for Ukraine still remains not passed.😠

      • Yes. I designed the logo for this website incorporating the US/Ukrainian flags. I was lobbying for US support for almost a decade until the US finally became Ukraine’s ally #1. Now all is in ruins. I feel deeply ashamed and asking ukrainians to forgive us. Politicians are all shit! 😡

      • You have a point but Biden doesn’t need Congress to send aid or ammo or weapons. Plus, he could also make the decision to use the frozen Moskali money and if this weren’t an election year, he might have.

        • I agree with you that weapons and ammo could be found and sent using other mechanisms. However the moskali money has lot of legal hoops to go though Brandon has no power over. That being said in the meantime we could tax the stuffing out of it quickly and legally and start sending it.
