And this is despite the fact that Russia is still keeping the Koreans on the second line of defense.

A North Korean general was wounded and several North Korean army officers were killed as a result of a missile strike on a sanatorium in the town of Maryino in the Kursk region on November 20, the Financial Times reported, citing an unnamed Ukrainian official.

The strike on Maryino was one of “several” that targeted North Koreans in the Kursk region over the past week, he said. Ukrainian forces were actively searching for locations of Koreans who had been dispersed by the Russians, he added.

The general’s identity has not been disclosed, but Ukrainian intelligence previously reported that Pyongyang had sent Colonel General Kim Jong Bok to oversee the Storm Corps special forces units stationed in Russia. It is not known whether he was wounded in Maryino.

Thousands of North Korean troops are now being deployed to Russia’s second line of defense, freeing up more Russian troops from the 50,000-strong force operating in the Kursk region for active combat, according to senior officials in Kyiv.

Storm Shadow missile strike on bunker in Maryino

As UNIAN reported, on November 20, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a powerful strike with Storm Shadow missiles on an old estate in the Kursk region, where a buried government bunker is believed to be located. Analysts have put forward a version that the bunker contained Russian generals, and possibly North Korean generals, since about a dozen of the scarce missiles were used on the target, and the bunker itself is a convenient location for the headquarters of the Russian troops in the Kursk region.

The following day, The Wall Street Journal reported that a North Korean army general had been wounded in the bunker . This information was given to journalists by an unnamed Western official.
