It has been reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed Yandex’s most powerful Yandex supercomputer named “Galushkin”. The target was attacked on October 11; photos confirming the destruction at the data center were published on October 19.

According to a report by analysts on the social media platform X, the Ukrainian military struck five of the eight buildings at the Yandex data center. Three of the eight buildings were completely destroyed and cannot be restored, according to “Dialog”.

The destruction of “Galushkin” has jeopardized the operation of the entire “Yandex” network, as this is already the third data center belonging to the Russian internet giant. The YandexGPT language model and the “Alisa” voice assistant ran on the supercomputer’s processing power, so the company’s downfall could begin precisely with a failure in the AI sector.

The “Galushkin” supercomputer was created in 2021 and named after the cybernetics scientist Alexander Ivanovich Galushkin.
