Ukrainian defenders shot down a guided aerial bomb (GAB) . This was reported by military correspondent Andrey Tsaplienko , citing sources in the Defense Forces.

According to the journalist, the enemy bomb was shot down in the suburbs of Zaporozhye.

“According to preliminary data, we are talking about experimental weapons,” Tsaplienko noted.

The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed the shooting down of a guided aerial bomb in Zaporozhye, but noted that this is not the first time this has happened, as Andriy Tsaplienko emphasized in his message.

“This is not the first time that such type of air attack weapon as KAB has been shot down. Combat work is underway on various targets – missiles, drones, including KABs. Because KABs come in different types,” said Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, in a comment for UNIAN.

At the same time, he stressed that in order to counter the use of KABs by the enemy, a comprehensive approach is needed, rather than a fight against the ammunition itself.

“We need to counteract the enemy’s tactical aviation, which actually produces these KABs. The enemy has fired up to 40,000 guided aerial bombs at Ukraine in 2024 alone. The Air Force is now actively implementing a comprehensive approach to countering the use of KABs by enemy tactical aviation. Various counteraction methods are being used,” Ignat added.
