They are trapped in an area surrounded by a river.
Military observer Vasily Pekhnyo explained how the Ukrainian Armed Forces are driving enemy soldiers into a cauldron in the Kursk region.
On Radio NV, he noted that the key point was the bridges. The first to appear was information about Glushkovo and the bridge over the Seim River, which was destroyed by Ukrainian aviation. There were two more left – in Zvannoye and Karizha. According to the latest information, the first of them was already half destroyed.
“This only worsens the situation for the Russians. I didn’t measure it with a ruler, but somewhere up to 400 square kilometers of territory, maybe even more, which are located south of the Seim River to the Ukrainian border, with such settlements as Glushkovo, like the well-known border settlement of Tetkino. What is it known for? Because the RDCs went there with their raids probably three times. Accordingly, there, in Tetkino, Russian airborne troops were located, up to 700-800 personnel, and Russian Z-publics write about this,” Pekhnyo notes.
According to him, this territory is surrounded by a river and is also pressed by the state border on one side. Thus, if all the bridges are destroyed, the Russian military will not be able to escape. Potentially, up to 700-800 Russian paratroopers could end up in the cauldron. However, there is a possibility that they have already begun to leave, since they began laying pontoon crossings on Friday.
“I see that the Ukrainian aviation declares its successful work directly on the bridges. I do not know what type of aviation it is. It is doubtful that it is F-16, because we do not have such heavy bombs for F-16, they are only being negotiated now. But the fact is that we get them and can destroy them. If the Russians start going along the pontoon crossings, then it is not a fact that they will be left alive. Either this could be the largest, record-breaking surrender, or it will be some element of withdrawal, but not very organized, because now we can say that two of the three bridges are out of action. This could be a truly outstanding operation – from what we can manage in Kursk region,” he concluded.
