The U.S. Places Places a Ticking Time Bomb in the Peace Accord
There will be no peace accord in the next few days as required by the American president to suspend his intention to withdraw from the “peace” process.
Several news outlets have reported that one of the provisions in the United States peace process guidelines is the official recognition Crimea as a territory of Russia by the United States. The measure is a known deal-breaker, as Ukraine has already stated in numerous occasions that they will accept de jure recognition of Crimea as a Russian territory. Accepting the present battle lines is one thing, but grating legitimacy to the theft of Ukrainian land is another.
Why?
If the argument from the White House is that ratifying the Russian theft of Crimea is necessary for a lasting peace, why did they not call for the de jure recognition of other occupied territories.
It is a ticking time bomb that deep sixes the deal, allowing Ukraine to be blamed for refusing peace. Russia may get some of the blame, but the narrative to the America people will likely be – “We provided a real, working peace deal and Ukraine did not want peace.”

Comment from Cheryl A. Madden, Historian and Bibliographer of the Stalinist Holodomor
People can see that it is not a workable deal, when they look past the headlines to see what the other details of someone we know’s proposed “deal” that stripped Ukraine of its sovereignty, its military, its defense industry, and wanted 50% of its rare earth minerals, all of which was a foolish proposal right from the start made to gain brownie points with Vova.
Remember: nothing of a controversial nature is broadcast on Russian TV wo approval from the Kremlin. Therefore, the better question to ask is what was the purpose of the repeated broadcasting and laughing about “Melanie‘s” nude pictures? That’s a big insult to any husband irt his wife. Therefore, despite the seemingly odd arrangements of that marriage, it was pretty well a dropping of the gauntlet. So…, we of the peanut gallery want to know Why Vova chose That Particular means of humiliation to bring him to heel by reminding him of who’s who in their relationship. Hmm. Time to munch some more popcorn and await developments.
Meanwhile, the thousands of troops getting killed are Russian, not Ukrainian, as described in the video below. Clearly, he uttered another lie.
Why should AnyoneAnywhere believe him re Anything?

U.S. “Peace Negotiations” Withdrawal Imminent
Last week I reported that April public cabinet meeting where neither the President, nor members of his cabinet brought up Ukraine and Russia signaled that the conflict was being sidelined. Yesterday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that a withdrawal from peace discussions is imminent within days if progress is not achieved. Over the next days I will be exploring the following subjects on my Substack and hope you will subscribe and join the conversation:
- U.S. complete withdrawal is inevitable and imminent.
- What this means for information sharing and last trickle of Biden era support.
- Why the U.S withdrawal does have clear upsides for Ukraine and Europe.
- How the withdrawal will be spun by the Trump Administration.
- The future trajectory of U.S. and Russian relations.
- The meaning for the war on the ground in Ukraine.
- The implications of the broken promise and defeat of Trump as peacemaker.
- Why we have lost the information war in the U.S. for now and how to fix it.

“Why the U.S withdrawal does have clear upsides for Ukraine and Europe.”
Given that US is largely using its influence trying to make Ukraine to surrender, a complete withdrawal is the best realistic scenario that we can reasonably expect. Yet is a bad scenario comparing to some scenarious that may exist in parallel universes.
It’s likely that at some point this year the US will also withdraw from NATO. The current administration has no tolerance for anything European.
To stop the war in Ukraine we need to ask, with arms ready to shot, Russians to go back to Russia. The Czarist Empire failed as well as the Soviet Union, it is time to be in the 21th century and imagine a better world. Ukraine is not part of Russia.
