State Duma deputies Elena Yampolskaya and Alexander Zhukov and Senator Alexei Pushkov have developed a bill prohibiting publicly identifying the roles of the USSR and Germany and other Axis countries during World War II. The document was published on the website of the parliament.
The authors of the bill proposed to amend the law “On the perpetuation of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945,” adding an article on the ban.
Among other things, they proposed to prohibit denying “the decisive role of the Soviet people in the defeat of Nazi Germany and the humanitarian mission of the USSR in the liberation of European countries” during the Second World War.
The ban is planned to extend to public speaking, works shown in public, as well as the media and the Internet.
What liability will be provided for violation of the ban is not specified in the draft law.
Russia provides for criminal liability for the rehabilitation of Nazism – up to five years in prison for denying the facts established by the verdict of the Nuremberg Tribunal, as well as public dissemination of false information about the activities of the USSR during the Second World War and about war veterans.

‘We propose to prohibit denying the decisive role of Russia in starting ww2 with our ally; Nazi Germany, when we signed the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact in 1939 and invaded Poland, committing atrocities of equal horror to those committed by nazi Germany.”
