The State Duma has proposed making internet access possible with a passport.

It is proposed to control every publication and every comment on the Internet.

Russia is already actively working to isolate the RuNet from the global network . However, the authorities have no intention of stopping at simply cutting Russians off from Western information.

Thus, Andrei Svintsov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, proposed a proposal to completely de-anonymize Russian internet users by passing a law requiring mandatory user identification using passports.

“We must completely purge the entire internet of anonymous content and anonymous accounts, of the use of bots, bot farms, mass posting, the production of mass content using neural networks, and so on,” the deputy said in a conversation with TASS .

Svintsov proposes passing a separate law “on an honest, clean, and legal internet” to ensure the “unambiguous identification” of those behind each post. According to the deputy, this will help combat “manipulation, bullying, fraud, crime, and extortion.”
