The smell of losing the war is already in the air in Russia, but Putin hides behind “peace initiatives”

15.06.2024 – Translated from Ukrainian via Google and OFP

On the eve of the peace summit in Switzerland, Putin decided to be proactive and put forward his peace initiatives, which are in no way different from previous demands that Ukraine capitulate to Moscow. For many days the world media will discuss the Russian dictator’s ultimatum to the Ukrainian state, but the demand to withdraw Ukrainian troops from the occupied four Ukrainian regions looks like extreme impudence. How identical, except because Putin put forward a demand to never admit Ukraine to NATO and to withdraw military infrastructure and forces from the countries of Eastern Europe that joined the North Atlantic Alliance after 1997.

The following is the text in the original language

According to Putin, all Ukraine has to do is surrender, and then there will be a ceasefire. Although later he recalled other traditional demands – Ukraine’s neutral status, refusal to join NATO and the Russian language. That is, nothing allegedly new, but the unappealing tone in which all this was announced must have frightened Ukrainians and the West. The main Kremlin official has actually publicly announced that if his demands are ignored, then Russia is ready to use the battering ram.

The Russian Federation desperately needs a ceasefire because Putin never planned for such a long-term conflict. According to the plan of the Kremlin, they had to capture the Ukrainian capital within three days, and after a few weeks at the most, take control of the whole of Ukraine. But Russian military logistics fell apart, and the Ukrainian military’s resistance to the invaders was much stronger than Moscow had expected.

Such absurd statements by Putin can be explained by the fact that Russia is running out of money for war. And Russia’s sale of energy resources to China and India cannot compensate for the loss of the European market, on which Russia historically relied heavily. The problem is that the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine twice within 8 years. And it makes no sense to negotiate with her about “peace” on the same terms as they wanted at the beginning. Ukrainians now, like no one else in the world, understand the price of peace, but we need peace, not its temporary surrogate in the form of a fake truce with the aggressor.

Disappointed in his victory, the despot tries his best to pretend that he has nuclear trump cards in his hands, although in fact he is very worried about the possibility of a summer or autumn offensive by the Armed Forces. After all, it is quite possible when Ukraine receives more help from NATO member states and other allies. It is clear that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire if Russia withdraws its troops from all occupied territories, including the Ukrainian Crimea. However, Moscow is not yet ready to consider such a development.

The moment is approaching when the Russian Federation will no longer be able to use the naval base in Crimea. Although the Russians have lost a large part of their Black Sea Fleet, the dictator is still going to spend trillions of rubles on a war he will never be able to win. Russia already smells of losing this war, but its population is unable to get rid of the consequences of its televised bombardment by full-time Kremlin propagandists.

I wonder how Putin himself would react if some foreign power invaded and took over parts of Russia and then offered “peace” terms, requiring it to withdraw its troops from all occupied territories and agree not to enter into coalitions with any other groups of nations . But for some reason he offers this nonsense to others.

Therefore, the main motivating factor of such a “peaceful ultimatum” is an attempt to disperse the information wave in the main world media. Showing by this that he is allegedly looking for a way out of the situation he himself created, but at the same time he does not want to lose his face.

He also needs such “peaceful maneuvers” because he no longer has the military resources to seize and hold additional Ukrainian lands. And now, when Ukraine is hitting targets even on the territory of the Russian Federation, it will only increase internal pressure on Putin. Therefore, he is more concerned about maintaining power than agreeing to any meaningful peace agreement.

And his words can be deciphered as follows: “Give me what I have already stolen, and I will not steal again.” This thief of foreign lands believes that he is allowed to do whatever he wants, and the international community must calmly observe his geopolitical limitlessness. And what about the people who have been forced to live for years in the territories occupied by Muscovites? Who asked them if they still want to put up with the illegal occupation of part of the Ukrainian regions?

Everything Putin has done is just political posturing. Why make an offer to someone at all if it is so absurd that you know in advance that the other party will never be able to accept it. In essence, he is testing the resolve of the West. He threw the “bait” and wants to see if someone can peck at it and put pressure on Ukraine to agree to an agreement on Russia’s terms.

It is worth noting that such “peace statements” from Moscow are being made at a time when Russian troops and equipment are partially destroyed, trillions of rubles are needed to replace tanks, armored vehicles and other military equipment, and the losses of the terrorist occupation army have reached more than half a million people.

The dictator has lost the “cream” of his army and is now sending officers and soldiers who often have practically no sufficient military training, and Russian tanks, which were manufactured fifty or more years ago, are arriving on the war fronts. He calls for a ceasefire because he knows that Russia is close to bankruptcy and losing the war. Putin destroyed the future of Russia by infecting his people with his personal hatred of Ukraine, which resulted in a senseless invasion of its territory.

Over the past month, a large number of Russian soldiers have surrendered, and their number will increase many times when Ukraine starts using new Western weapons. Ukrainians will never stop fighting the invaders until the last Russian soldier is expelled from Ukraine. The imperialist, murderer and political lunatic who has settled in the Kremlin will soon not be able to keep the vast territory of the Russian Federation under his control. And it is only a matter of time when powerful disintegration processes will tear the Russian Empire to pieces.

Putin has collapsed, and the collapse of the Russian Federation will be much worse than the collapse of the Soviet Union. And it is doubtful that this time the West will simply help Russia get back on its feet. “Biden’s legs” may not exist, because over the past 25 years, Muscovy has shown its true face and there is no trust in it.

And if Russia, or what is left of it in the end, wants to receive Western aid, then the main requirement for receiving it must be its renunciation of nuclear weapons and its status as a nuclear power. In addition, the number of its army should be reduced to 80 thousand, and it will be able to keep in service no more than 100 tanks, 30 aircraft and 10 ships of the naval forces.

Moreover, any military forces of Russia must be prohibited from being closer to the borders of its neighboring states at a distance of 500 kilometers. Compliance with all these requirements should be monitored by the commission on the demilitarization of Russia, which will include representatives of the United States and the leading states of the European Union.

The dictator wanted to go down in world history as a great leader who revived the former USSR and once again brought the countries of Eastern Europe into Moscow’s orbit. But these adventurous political projects of his brought the opposite result, and exposed him as the instigator of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

But his hyperbolized ego will not allow him to back down. Putin is stuck between a rock and a hard place. The collective West needs to take all this into account when they decide what to do with Russia next. Because now the enemy has become much weaker, the danger he poses to the world order has not gone anywhere.

  1. The key statement:

“He also needs such “peaceful maneuvers” because he no longer has the military resources to seize and hold additional Ukrainian lands. And now, when Ukraine is hitting targets even on the territory of the Russian Federation, it will only increase internal pressure on Putin. Therefore, he is more concerned about maintaining power than agreeing to any meaningful peace agreement.”

  2. Referenced original article looks like Russian to me. Plenty of Ukrainian to whom it is their primary language but have zero use for Dugin’s Russian World.
