This visit is connected with the deployment of DPRK troops on Russian territory.
A South Korean delegation will visit Ukraine this week to share data on the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia and discuss cooperation measures, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yul said, Yonhap reports .

The president shared these plans during a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who confirmed that North Korean troops were deployed in the Kursk region.
“I hope that under the leadership of Secretary General Rutte, NATO will redouble its efforts to monitor and block illicit exchanges between Russia and North Korea in a spirit of solidarity and coordination,” said Yun Seok-yul.
The South Korean delegation will hold a briefing for the EU Political and Security Committee on October 29, he said, before visiting Ukraine to meet with intelligence and defense officials to exchange information from the front and discuss cooperation measures.
Yonhap also recalled that Yoon had a telephone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to exchange information on the deployment of North Korean troops.
The day before the call, Yun had a separate phone call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to exchange information on North Korean troop movements and discuss cooperation with EU member states.
“This is a serious situation where the actual deployment of North Korean troops on the front line in Ukraine may happen earlier than expected,” the South Korean president stressed during the conversation.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that he had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok-yul:
“First of all, I thanked you for your consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the financial and humanitarian aid that has already been provided and announced. We discussed the involvement of North Korean troops in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. There is only one conclusion – this war is internationalizing and is spreading beyond the borders of two states.”
According to him, the leaders of the countries agreed to strengthen the exchange of intelligence and expertise in order to intensify contacts at all levels.
“As part of this agreement, Ukraine and the Republic of Korea will soon exchange delegations to coordinate actions. Finally, I invited South Korea to join the G7 Vilnius Declaration on bilateral security agreements in support of Ukraine,” the president added.
