The results of the presidential elections in the USA may change the level of aid for Ukraine.
The USA signed an agreement with Ukraine on security guarantees for the next 10 years. Such a decision is a clear signal of long-term support for the protection of Kyiv from the Russian Federation before the elections in the United States, which may call into question future American aid to Kyiv, writes Politico .
The bilateral agreement envisages that the US will help Ukraine strengthen its defense and industrial base, coordinate Kyiv’s future armament needs, and bring Ukraine closer to joining NATO.
“It is important that the pact does not oblige American troops to enter Ukraine and protect it from Russian invasion. Instead, the agreement formalizes the current support of Kyiv by Washington for at least another ten years. But there is one important nuance: the agreement was concluded only between the current administrations of the United States and of Ukraine and will not be ratified by Congress. If former President Donald Trump returns to the Oval Office in January, he may terminate the agreement, violating Washington’s commitments,” the publication’s analysts warned.
It is known that the leaders of the United States and Ukraine, Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelensky, signed the agreement on Thursday, June 13.
“Lasting peace for Ukraine must be supported by Ukraine’s own ability to defend itself now and deter future aggression,” the US president noted.
At the same time, Zelensky said that this day is historic and that the agreement “will benefit everyone in the world.”
Politico recalled that the agreement includes plans from protecting Ukraine as of today to building future forces capable of deterring an invasion by the Russian Federation. Also, the USA will continue to train the Ukrainian military so that they can meet Western standards, which are necessary for official accession to NATO.
“We are not waiting for the completion of the NATO accession process to make a long-term commitment to Ukraine’s security, to counter the immediate threats it faces and to deter any aggression that may occur,” the newsletter says. agreement, which was prepared by the Biden administration.
Also, with the help of this agreement, the USA undertakes to cooperate with Western partners to support the economy of Ukraine and restore some defense and industrial capacities.

“But there is one important nuance: the agreement was concluded only between the current administrations of the United States and of Ukraine and will not be ratified by Congress.”
Biden can make this agreement into a treaty, which can be ratified by the Senate, the Congress would not be involved. Also, once ratified it becomes law, so no future POTUS can rip it up. Why is Biden not going this route, instead of producing another half arsed agreement?
Since it doesn’t seem to include trade and is not confirming a vice president, the Senate can pass it without the house, however they would need a 2/3rds majority to do so.
This agreement is not binding on any future administration, democrat or republican. If Biden was serious about what is in the “signed agreement” then obviously he would have submitted this as a treaty to the Senate for its ratification.
Therefore this whole exercise was intended as nothing more than a photo op for Biden.
What a sad joke at Ukraine’s expense.
