At the same time, the Tavria OSUV notes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are strengthening the blocking line and setting up additional firing positions, and logistics deliveries are still ongoing.

Russian occupiers cut the railway line in the center of Avdeevka in the area of Chistyakova Street. They have only 700 meters left to Industrial Avenue – the only road that connects the city with the territory controlled by Ukraine.

“A Ukrainian drone drops shell after shell on six advancing Russian soldiers passing 700 meters through Avdiivka. As a result, three of them (at least) are wounded by the drone. But there is not a single Ukrainian soldier who could resist them in their advance to the west,” – said  Bild open data analysis expert Julian Röpke, commenting on the video.

The Russians are advancing in Avdeevka

According to him, “the fall of Avdiivka is intensifying every day,” and as street fighting intensifies, the ratio of losses becomes less and less favorable for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He called the situation in the city “Bakhmut 2.0.”

The commander of the Tavria OSUV, General Alexander Tarnavsky  , said that the occupiers were focused on establishing full control over the logistics routes in the north of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.

“In the Tavria operational zone, the enemy is now concentrating its main efforts in the Avdeevsky direction. The intention of the Russian aggressors is clear: they first of all want to establish control over the logistics routes to support our units on the northern flank,” he wrote.

According to Tarnavsky, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are repulsing the enemy and continue to destroy their equipment and personnel. Defense forces are strengthening the blocking line and setting up additional firing positions. Logistics deliveries continue to be carried out.

“Across our entire operational zone, over the past 24 hours, the enemy carried out 17 airstrikes, carried out 57 assault operations and 599 artillery shellings. Our defenders are staunchly holding the defense. The enemy’s total losses over the past 24 hours were: 361 Russian occupiers and 13 units of military equipment, not counting UAVs. In particular, these are 2 tanks, 1 armored combat vehicle, 1 artillery system, 6 vehicles and 3 units of special equipment. Also, the Ukrainian defense forces destroyed 2 ammunition depots. 145 UAVs of various types were neutralized or destroyed,” the commander said.

War in Ukraine – defense of Avdeevka

Military observer Alexander Kovalenko said that the main goal of the Russian offensive near Avdiivka was to create a “cauldron” and encircle the Ukrainian garrison. This plan failed and now the Russian Federation is forced to conduct urban battles.

The Telegraph reported today that despite the terrible loss of life, Vladimir Putin’s forces appear to finally be on the verge of  capturing Avdiivka  – or what’s left of it. It is argued that if Ukraine had even half the ammunition that Russia uses every day, it would now have a much better picture everywhere.

Of course, the German generals didn’t comment on the leadership exchange, they know better than to wade into the swamp of political issues. Still, there must be concerns about Zelensky’s decision. From the German point of view, Zaluzhny didn’t do anything wrong.
