The situation in the city is very difficult.

Russian occupation forces are advancing in Avdeevka,  Donetsk region, while suffering huge losses. The situation in the city is very difficult, said former SBU officer and military analyst Ivan Stupak.

“We saw a message that 18% of the city had already been captured by the Russian Federation. We heard back in December a message from Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny that two or three months were on the horizon and that the city would most likely have to be abandoned. And we see how the Russian military is advancing using sewer systems, undermining somewhere, they are trying to go to the rear and cut off the road connecting our garrison with the main bases,” he noted on the  FREEDOM TV channel .

Stupak added that the assaults on Avdiivka have not stopped since October 2023. According to various estimates, Russia “placed” about 13 thousand occupiers and several hundred tanks and armored vehicles there.

“That is, the advance of the Russian Federation and the capture of locations come with colossal losses. This city does not give a strategic advantage to everyone; there is no highway for open advance to further settlements either,” he stated, noting that Avdeevka for Russians is only political purpose.
