The Russian-Ukrainian war has now lasted longer than the German-USSR war in World War II. Let that sink in.

Back then, the Soviet army managed to take Berlin, the capital of one of the strongest industrial powers of the time. Today, Russia is struggling for years to occupy Ukrainian villages. A country with a population about 3.5 times smaller and an economy roughly ten times smaller.

Why the difference?

Because history is often misrepresented. In World War II, Ukrainians and many other Soviet nationalities fought alongside Russians. Ukrainians were at least 30% of Soviet army. The United States provided massive military and economic support to the USSR without which it would have collapsed. To remind you, Soviet Union failed to capture Finland in 1940 on its own, and lost 10 times more people.

So no, Russia did not win Hitler, the alliance did. Russia did not win Napoleon; the alliance did. Alone, they are capable of enslaving small nations if they are not defended by anyone. Sort of scavengers…

The myth of a β€œmighty Russia” collapses under basic scrutiny. Economically, Russia is about half the size of Germany and smaller than Italy. You can easily name German or Italian products used worldwide. Russian exports that come to mind are usually limited to raw materials, vodka, or weapons.

Even modern Russian weapons rely heavily on Western components. Numerically, the army is large. In terms of training, logistics, and adaptability, it is not.

And one more uncomfortable thought. If the West had truly wanted this war to end, it could have been over years ago. Hundreds of thousands of lives would have been saved, including Russian lives. Western militaries have repeatedly demonstrated technological capabilities far beyond anything Russia can counter. But they are not doing it, letting Russia commit genocide in Ukraine.

Yet the myth of β€œmighty Russia” is carefully maintained.

The real question is not whether it is true. The question is. Who benefits from keeping this myth alive, and why?

Picture: this is how a real Russian soldier looks. And it’s not the worst one…

….and yet, there are so many – from political leaders to some analysts here on LinkedIn – who keep telling me that Russia is winning and that Ukraine has to ‘compromise’.

History will not be kind.

Raw materials, vodka, and delusions of grandeur — that’s modern russia today.

Another sleepless night. No electricity and no running water at home. It’s βˆ’10 Β°C outside, no central heating, so the apartment gets colder gradually. That’s how my day started.

It’s not the first time, so I just did what I normally do. I brought the kids to school. The school has a powerful generator, so there is electricity there. Then I came to the office by taxi, twice as expensive as usual because of the weather and because electric public transport is not working. I have 7 kWh of electricity in batteries here, so I can work.

At home, I have a 2 kWh battery and battery-powered lamps, so we can cook food and have light. I don’t know how long it will last, so we won’t be watching TV or playing video games using that electricity. This is a weird reality where your budget is measured not only in money, but also in kilowatt-hours. And not everyone has a battery or a generator; many just wait.

Four people were killed in Kyiv by a Russian attack. Millions did not sleep and heard explosions throughout the night. So when I hear someone saying “Ukraine is getting too much”, I really want to teleport this person here to enjoy the experience, it cures some degree of stupidity.

I have had many such nights and days. So if anyone dares to ask me, β€œWhy are you so negative about Russians?”, it takes effort to reply without emotion and explain what seems obvious to me. Russia is an aggressor and a terrorist state, most of Russians support it. Any attempts to negotiate with them are futile. They understand only force. And if you do not show force and support Ukraine, all of the above may happen to you sooner or later.

Why most of Russians support it? Due to fear, ignorance, or they really mean it?

Reply from Volodymyr:

Daniel Milstein-Goncalves : When the war started, we contacted people we know in Russia. Our celebrities recorded videos for them explaining things and asking to do something to stop. In a month we stopped, because they ignored us or even mocked us and told that we were guilty. So I do not believe in ignorance. They want it, they always wanted. They consider Ukrainians just spoiled kind of Russians that need to be purified.

EU wasted 800 bln Euro to bail out communists from Greek government, EU printed 4 trln Euro to “fight” COVID, 70 bln Poland get only for building fortifications (nothing build) and 90 bln for Ukraine for 2 years of bloodiest war of the century with hundreds of thousands victims of ruthless terrorist attacks. If Ukraine fall you`ll have “Bucha”s and “Izyum”s all over Europe. I can’t understand Europeans setting their prioreties. It looks like the highway to suicide.

Utterly horrific! The US could end this Russian terror overnight. That too is outrageous. Europe must do far more than deliver condemnations!

Oh man – our thoughts are with you and your countrymen! HATE Volodya, i do believe is an emotion gifted to us by the Creator to be used when survival is threatened. HATING MOSCOVTE TERORISTS is a valid emotion. And i agree, i can’t see negotiating with barbarians who lie being fruitful, unless you have a figurative “gun to their temple”. And even then….?

Five hours in the hallway, listening to ballistic missiles explode. A couple of hours of sleep. Then back to β€œnormal” life, work, and the news about Europe issuing yet another declaration while the USA loses its mind.

Alina Pereverzieva : The US hasn’t lost its mind. It’s just that the Kremlin happens to have people of the same mindset as the White House. We need to replace Kremlin with the the woke-crowd the and the war will end!

There is no sign whatsoever of that mindset changing. The kuntz will keep on murdering children until they are totally defeated and de-fanged.
