On the night of June 24, Ukrainian forces struck two strategic facilities near Orenburg – a gas processing plant and a helium plant. The operation took place at a considerable distance from the front line and was one of the longest attacks during the full-scale war.
The General Staff reported that it was carried out in cooperation with the Russian underground resistance movement “Black Spark”. OBOZ.UA tells what is known about it.
Attack on strategic enterprises of the Russian Federation
According to the Ukrainian military, Special Operations Forces drones hit the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant and a nearby helium plant. The distance to the targets was more than 1,200 kilometers from the line of combat contact.
The Orenburg Gas Processing Plant is one of the largest gas complexes in Russia. The enterprise is engaged in the purification, storage and production of commercial gas, and its annual capacity reaches 45 billion cubic meters.
Nearby is the Orenburg Helium Plant, a key producer of helium in the Russian Federation. The plant produces about 8.8 million cubic meters of the gas annually, which is used in high-tech industries, including rocketry and the military industry.

The role of “Black Spark” in the operation
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Russian underground movement “Black Spark” (Russian: “Черная искра”). According to the Ukrainian side, this movement operates on the territory of the Russian Federation and participates in sabotage operations in cooperation with the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
What is known about the “Black Spark” movement?
“Black Spark” is positioned as an underground resistance movement that carries out subversive actions inside Russia in cooperation with Ukrainian SSOs. There is no confirmed data in the public space about its structure or leadership, which explains the conspiratorial nature of its activities.
According to the Ukrainian side, the movement is involved in synchronized operations aimed at destroying critical Russian infrastructure. In 2025, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces officially announced coordination with the Black Spark during attacks on Russian facilities in the Krasnodar Territory.
Previous operations involving traffic
One of the first confirmed joint operations was the attack on the Ilya Oil Refinery in September 2025. At that time, the primary oil refining unit was destroyed, which effectively stopped the operation of the enterprise.
In October 2025, one of the largest Russian refineries, Kirishinefteorgsintez, in the Leningrad Region, was attacked. The strikes damaged key processing facilities, significantly affecting the plant’s operations.
In December 2025, the SSO, together with the movement, conducted an operation in the Caspian Sea, hitting two Russian tankers, which, according to the Ukrainian side, were transporting military equipment.
In June 2026, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, together with the Black Spark, attacked an oil depot and a fuel and lubricants base in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation. The facilities were used both for civilian support of the region and for military logistics of the Russian army.
As OBOZ.UA reported, occupied Crimea was also hit by drones at night. As a result of the attack, Sevastopol was completely cut off from power, and power outages also occurred in Simferopol. A military town is on fire near Kerch, and information also appeared about an arrival near the “Gvardiyske” airfield, from where the occupiers launch “Shahedas” over Ukraine.

It’s great to see another Russian partisan movement emerging to fight the evil mafia regime.
We talk bad about Russians but not all of them a ass kissing boot lickers.
I hope they will be the future of Russia and not the ones who grovel at the alter of whatever cult of personality that comes along after Putin.
Whenever we talk badly about russians, we mean the filthy ones, which is still the majority.
