At the same time, if Ukraine steps up actions in the Kursk region, the Russian Federation will be forced to withdraw troops from certain places.

The Russian Federation has already been forced to send to the Kursk region those reserves that were supposed to strengthen the Russian offensive on Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Chasiv Yar.

Veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, reserve major Oleksiy Hetman said this on the air on Radio NV.  Hetman believes that if Ukrainian actions in Kurshchyna intensify, the Russians will withdraw their troops from somewhere in response. At the same time, the Russian invaders are already sending reserves to Kurshchyna, which were previously planned to be sent to the east of Ukraine.

“So far, they will definitely not reinforce the troops on the eastern front, because there is already information that the reserves that were planned to be transferred to reinforce the Pokrovsky, Chasovoyarivsky, Toretsky directions are already being transferred to the Kursk direction,” – Hetman said.

The reserve major believes that such actions of the Russians weaken the Russian troops fighting in the east of Ukraine.

Hetman notes that the Kursk operation was very unexpected for the Russian Federation, because Ukraine managed to prepare it secretly. “It can already be assumed that it was and is successful,” – emphasized the veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

At the same time, Hetman outlined the goals of this operation.

“First of all, it is, of course, to prevent the Russians from concentrating their troops in the Sumy region. We have all heard that they are planning offensive actions, to do something similar to the Kharkiv operation. This can be considered a counter-action on our part, as a counterattack,” Hetman emphasized. .

He added that the Defense Forces of Ukraine control at least a thousand kilometers on the territory of the Russian Federation, and this proves that the Ukrainian military prevented the Russians from preparing their offensive on Sumy Oblast.

“Secondly, it is, of course, to distract Russian forces and force them to transfer to Kurshchyna (troops from the east – UNIAN),” the reserve major emphasized.

He named the third goal the destruction of Russian military equipment and manpower.

“The task of any army during war is to destroy the enemy’s army,” Hetman noted.

Also, according to him, the Ukrainian operation in Kurshchyna raised morale in the rear of Ukraine, and it was demonstrated to international partners that the Russian army can be destroyed on its territory.

“I am sure that this will give us the opportunity to supply us with more weapons. Not an opportunity, but a desire, because dealing with the winners is much more interesting for our partners than with those who are still on the defensive. This is a very important aspect,” Hetman emphasized.

At the same time, he added that now the political situation in Russia has become much worse.

“We see how confused Putin is. We will see what will happen next,” Hetman said.

He noted that in the Russian Federation there is a perception that the “tsar” at the head of the state must be strong, and because of this “sense of greatness” he can be forgiven for restricting people’s rights. “And when the tsar becomes weak, and especially when the tsar cannot cope with external threats, such a tsar is very quickly overthrown by the Russians themselves. This is unacceptable for them. And this was also one of the goals of this operation,” Hetman emphasized.
