The Russian Ministry of Defense has already studied the possibilities of using small missile ships on Lake Ladoga.

Russian authorities are planning to create a new naval base. Lake Ladoga could be a potential location for deploying missile ships .

This was reported by the Russian publication Izvestia . It is noted that the Russian Ministry of Defense has already studied the possibilities of using small missile ships on Lake Ladoga.

The publication, citing a source, writes that based on the results of research that took several months, it was recognized that small missile ships can operate effectively in Lake Ladoga. Russian experts believe that such a step is “an adequate measure after NATO expansion in the north-west,” because from there Russian ships “can hold Finland at gunpoint.”

“This is a completely sound military-technical response to the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. Lake Ladoga is quite large. During the Great Patriotic War, the Ladoga Flotilla operated there, and after the war various forces were stationed. It is a good idea to provide firing with the Buyans and Karakurts.” for NATO targets. In addition, this area is not as well known to alliance intelligence as the Baltic bases,” said Russian military historian Dmitry Boltenkov.

It is noted that the Karakurts should become the most massive project of attack ships for the Russian fleet. Today there are three representatives of this series in the Russian fleet. We are talking about the following ships: “Mytishchi”, “Sovetsk” and “Odintsovo”. The Russian Federation plans to build 18 similar vessels.

As for the small missile ships of the Buyan-M project, these are small ships with a displacement of 850 tons.

“Initially, they were designed to protect the maritime economic zone of Russia. However, then their functionality was revised. Today, ten representatives of the series are in service – three each in the Baltic Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla and four in the Black Sea,” the publication clarified.

  1. “The Russian Federation plans to build 18 similar vessels.”

We are well used to russian plans and fantasy projects, as seen with the invisible tanks and equally invisible SU57.
