The Russian Federation believes that such a measure “will help stabilize food prices” in the Russian Federation.
The Russian authorities plan to fix prices for a number of socially significant goods. It is assumed that the list of goods will be determined by the government, the Russian publication “Izvestia” reports.

It was about increasing the share of long-term contracts. That is, agreements between product manufacturers and retail chains to supply goods in batches over a certain period with a freeze on the prices at which retail chains purchase products.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) and manufacturing companies believe that such a measure will help stabilize food prices in the Russian Federation. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the price restriction will affect “socially significant goods,” including vegetables and eggs. This list may also include apples, greenhouse vegetables, and a number of other goods.
It is noted that currently the share of long-term contracts in the supply of chicken eggs is 70-80%, and vegetables – 50-60%, but these shares may decrease. In this regard, Russian officials are considering the possibility of enshrining this mechanism at the legislative level in order to reduce seasonal price fluctuations and make cost formation more predictable.
At the same time, a number of industry representatives did not support the departments’ initiative. Manufacturers who agree to price fixing may become “hostages to their obligations” and lose competitiveness in the market.

Producers may not increase their products, mainly in the food sector for a whole year, to stop inflation. Brilliant!
Just as brilliant as Trumps idea for import tariffs to be paid by the exporting countries……………
The Empire will prevail no matter what Putin, Trump or the EU will do.
