The regime is using new tricks to send more “cannon fodder” to the war: what did they come up with in Russia

In Russia, they lure people into service not only with large payments, but also with deception.

On the day of his appointment as Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrei Belousov said that recruiting the armed forces is one of the primary tasks, but there will be no new mobilization. The Russians took his words with skepticism, since on the territory of the aggressor country the “measures” are becoming tougher every day, and the regime is resorting to new tricks to make up for the losses of military personnel in Ukraine.

What is happening in Russia now – read the material OBOZ.UA.

From migrants to “native” Russians

Almost two months ago there was a terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow, perpetrated by Tajiks. After this, real raids on migrants began in Russia – over the past month, the geography of such raids by “law enforcement officers” has only expanded.

One thing remains unchanged: men “not of Slavic appearance” are detained and taken to the police. There, after checking the documents, they sort them: if the migrant already has a Russian passport, then go straight to the military registration and enlistment office. It may only be a week before they are sent to the criminal war.

Such raids, which involve local officials, police and military investigators, are now carried out primarily in markets and catering establishments.

The fact is that the vast majority of migrants from Central Asian countries do not register with the military after receiving Russian citizenship. And now this category of “new” Russians has become especially vulnerable. However, cases have been recorded where even foreigners are forced under pressure to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense . And such actions of the Russian authorities have already caused a massive outflow of migrants, which, in turn, has hit the labor market in the Russian Federation.

The authorities are also putting pressure on “native” Russians, so every day it becomes more and more difficult to avoid being sent to the front. For example, even when registering a car, Russians are massively “awarded” with summonses.

New schemes for sending to war

Russian authorities continue to deny the possibility of a new wave of mobilization, but at the same time they feel an urgent need for new “cannon fodder” for a military offensive in Ukraine. And the losses are really great. For example, in April 2024 alone, Russian occupation forces lost almost 26 thousand of their soldiers. These data were announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“This is not a record figure, but significant enough to not allow the ROV to compensate for losses and denies them to significantly increase the human component,” says Alexander Kovalenko, military-political observer of the Information Resistance group.

Meanwhile, in Russia they are now focusing on recruiting contract soldiers, but there are not so many volunteers. But the regions were not allowed to plan and now they are trying to lure both Russians and foreigners to go to fight in their region.

One of the main “trump cards” for attracting people into the ranks of the occupation army is additional allowances, which go on top of payments from the region and the Ministry of Defense. The amount of such payments in some places reaches 400 thousand rubles (about 4,400 dollars).

As it turned out, large enterprises fictitiously hire Russians and foreigners, and then “employees” who have not worked a day go to war in Ukraine, receiving a one-time or monthly payment from their “employers.”

“The scheme is similar to network marketing: the search for fictitious employees is carried out by “independent recruiters” who resort to original advertising tricks. For each person who signs a contract, they receive commission payments,” says the publication of the Sistema investigative project.

In this way, not only state but also private organizations recruit for war. For example, among them is the construction company of St. Petersburg billionaire Igor Bukato “Vozrozhdenie”. And a company from the Volgograd region even launched the “Bring a Friend” campaign. The private enterprise promises to pay 50 thousand rubles to anyone who brings a friend who is ready to go to war from the Nizhne-Volzhsky Pipe Plant. The potential contract soldier himself, in addition to the regional and Ministry of Defense payments, will receive a one-time bonus in the amount of 250 thousand rubles from NVTZ itself.

Another new feature is that Russians are lured to military registration and enlistment offices by “alternative contract service”.  Such a scheme was discovered in Izhevsk. There, conscripts began to receive leaflets stating that “without participation in the SVO” and “you will have time for personal needs,” and also promised additional payments.

However, this is a hoax. The fact is that there is no alternative contract service instead of urgent service in the Russian Federation. Moreover, having concluded a contract, the chance of not getting into war is zero. It is also impossible to terminate the contract unilaterally while the mobilization decree is in effect. Plus, the contract soldier does not have the right to choose his place of service – it is determined solely by the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country, based on military needs.

Despite all the tricks, the recruitment of potential occupiers is not going very well. To stimulate the effort, the Russian Presidential Embassy in the Far East gave the command to recruit a detachment of local officials to be sent to the war with Ukraine.

The governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, has already joined the recruiting effort, cynically declaring that every Russian man “should visit there.” According to him, to solve the problem of replenishing the armed forces, “a personal example is needed on the part of us, civil servants.”

The call has not yet met with support among officials, who are afraid of being “cannon fodder.” But it became known that the heads of three regions of Yakutia went to war. According to Russian regional authorities, five volunteer detachments have already been created in the republic.

“But first of all, those who are caught in corruption or other crimes go. They are given a “choice”: either a criminal case, or being sent to war. And the Fezs (employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation – Ed.) have a folder with compromising evidence for every official,“ says OBOZ.UA’s interlocutor in Ukrainian intelligence.

  1. If the mafiosi must invent tricks and use deception to gather cannon fodder, this means that their regular recruitment efforts are not going well, as the article states. It seems not even the large sums of money offered is having the desired effects.
But, it’s anyone’s guess if this will hamper the roach army. Perhaps sooner or later, this could become a serious issue as the losses continue unabated.
Any foreigners still in mafia land cannot expect compassion if they get thrown into the meat grinder to end up as dog food.

    • Damn good points, Mr. Facts! Well, I think this will have a negative effect on combat strength. Because migrants who have been shanghaied into the army will have even less motivation than the average orc to fight and die for effing RuSSia. That’s not what they came for. Those guys have a home country they can return to and thus will be very eager to surrender. The negative experience of the survivors will make rounds and strongly reduce interest in migrating to Putinstan. So, this new trick will only have a rather temporary effect and in the long run will increase labor shortage. It’s a rather desperate move, just another way of scraping the bottom of the barrel. RuSSia can’t win this war of attrition! 😈

  2. “in April 2024 alone, Russian occupation forces lost almost 26 thousand of their soldiers.”

The putinaZis are able to field 30,000 new orcs/month. They don’t mind losing at the current rate, because cannon fodder enable them to take ground. Already they are back around the 20% mark in terms of occupation.

The allies need to help the defenders to reach a daily kill rate of 2000+.

    • Yup, that would be the right move to make the war of attrition unsustainable for Russia. The hords of orcs need to be decimated by shells, missiles and bombs before they even reach the frontline. To make this possible, production needs to be increased. That’s perfectly doable for the industrialized countries of the West, it only takes the political will to get it done. In light of the consequences of defeat, this should be a no brainer. 🤨

      • Indeed, Mr. Gray, but no brains is what we’re dealing with … besides a great deal of no spines.
