The Parliament of Ukraine determines the procedure for banning pro-Russian parties .

As an UNIAN correspondent reports , 302 people’s deputies voted for the adoption in the first reading of the draft law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Prohibition of Political Parties” ( registration number 7172-1 ).

This bill provides for a ban on political parties that justify or deny Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

As one of the authors of the bill, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Olha Sovgirya , reported on Facebook, in the event of a ban by a court of a political party that formed a parliamentary faction in the Verkhovna Rada, such a parliamentary faction, after the court decision on the ban of the political party comes into force, is declared dissolved by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

She notes that the draft law provides for new norms of the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada, a people’s deputy who did not join the parliamentary faction (including after the deputies’ faction was declared dissolved), who was expelled or left the parliamentary faction, is non-factional.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 20,  the National Security and Defense Council stopped any activity of a number of political parties  during martial law. The Ministry of Justice was instructed to take measures to immediately stop the activities of these political forces.
