The Problem Is Not Mobilization: The West Has Equipped Only 2.5 Brigades Instead of 10, – Zelensky

According to him, the problem is not a lack of military personnel, but a shortage of weapons and equipment for them.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian government had asked its allies to fully equip 10 military brigades to confront the Russian occupiers. However, only two and a half were fully staffed.

In an interview with the British television channel Sky News, the head of state emphasized that the key problem is not a lack of military personnel, but a shortage of weapons and equipment for them.

“They talk about mobilization, but the real problem is the 10 brigades that our partners have not equipped. I asked for this more than a year ago. We agreed with the United States and European allies, and today Europe and the United States have fully equipped only two and a half brigades,” the president explained.

According to him, such results are due to bureaucracy, lack of priority among some partners and other factors that often arise during war.

“Someone asked me about mobilization, and I answered: do you want people to go to their deaths without weapons?” Zelensky was indignant.

The head of state added that Ukraine makes decisions on the size of its army based on the need to save as many lives as possible.

“If European or American officials have ideas regarding the age of mobilization, I want to ask our partners to do their job, and we will do ours,” Zelensky concluded.

Mobilization in Ukraine

As is known, according to the Law “On Military Duty and Military Service”, now 18-year-old men can join the army only at their own request.

However, according to Western media, the administration of US President Joe Biden is putting pressure on Ukraine, calling for lowering the mobilization age to 18 .

Senior lieutenant, officer of the operational planning section of the Svoboda battalion, Andrey Krivushchenko, noted that it is impossible to send the entire nation to the front , since the essence of Ukraine’s struggle is not only to avoid losing territory.

  1. This dereliction of support is simply heartbreaking. It would appear that Ukraine has no foul weather friends. What a terrible tragedy.
On the question of mobilization, there is no clear cut answer. But consider this : many young men of 18-25 have already volunteered and sadly many have already died. Ukraine needs fit young men desperately, but it cannot afford to lose too many either.
The mothers of the young men who already volunteered love their sons; sometimes their only sons. The mothers of the young men who refused to volunteer, also love their sons.
But is it fair for the mothers of the volunteers to exclusively bear the awful burden of loss?

  2. Nato never wanted Ukraine to win because they are either afraid of Putin or their bank accounts are tied to ruSSia.
